"Guns" - Stephen King Confronts NRA Members Head On Calling For Greater Gun Control
Best-selling author Stephen King has just released a passionate call for greater gun control, titled “Guns.” In a coup for Amazon, the essay is available only through its Kindle Store for 99 cents.

King begins with a bitter recitation of the way school shootings are commonly reported in the news and the way politicians and lobbyists respond without, ultimately, disturbing the status quo. His list ends:

“21. Any bills to change existing gun laws, including those that make it possible for almost anyone in America to purchase a high-capacity assault weapon, quietly disappear into the legislative swamp.

“22. It happens again and the whole thing starts over.”

Determined and at times profane, the 8,000-word essay confronts NRA members straight on: “In the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings,” King writes, “gun advocates have to ask themselves if their zeal to protect even the outer limits of gun ownership have anything to do with preserving the Second Amendment as a whole, or if it’s just a stubborn desire to hold onto what they have, and to hell with the collateral damage.”

Yeah, because criminals and maniacs obey gun laws, and because a raped woman strangled dead with her own pantyhose is morally superior to a live woman standing over the dead body of her would-be rapist after she shot him.

Not to mention that the FBI statistics show that more people are murdered each year with baseball bats than guns, and more children die in swimming pools than from firearms, and that the "child" gun injury statistics include 20+ year old gang members.

Or that the rich and powerful can always afford armed security when the poor can't, and that the rich and powerful can live in safe neighborhoods when the poor can't, or that NO police officer has the responsibility to stop crime or criminals or risk their life in the defense of anyone else.

And I haven't even gotten into the 200 million people slaughtered in the 20th century by their own governments after they were first legally disarmed.

Fuck you, Stephen - you're a traitor not only to your country, but to humanity itself.

Oh and P.S. - how many children did that 200 million dead include? And why does Hitler, Stalin, Mao and every other communist totalitarian in history agree with you?

Give Stevie a break. He can't help it because he has brain damage.

He is a shell of his former self since getting hit by a driver while out for a walk near his home in Maine.

He was lucky to live but not lucky enough to recover fully.

Also the guy who ran him over turned up dead about 1 year later.

Steve is one of them.

Amazon.com Review

There are a handful of subjects in America so emotional and polarizing that the national dialogue around them amounts to little more than a shouting match. Chief among these is the subject of guns.

In this intimate and moving Kindle Single, Stephen King employs all his gifts as writer and citizen to address gun violence in America. But why should we care what Stephen King has to say? As it turns out, there are a number of reasons.

Despite his "liberal creds," King is an unapologetic gun owner himself. He is also the author of a novel--published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman--that has served as a "possible accelerant" for at least four real-life high school shooters.

King had his publisher take that book off the market long ago, but the guns and the occasional bursts of unfathomable violence remain. When division is everywhere, is it possible for someone to argue passionately for the middle road? That is what King seeks to do here--this is a frank and thoughtful contribution to a dialogue in dire need of voices from the "all-but-deserted middle." --Chris Schluep

Stephen King's juvenile, violent books have probably inspired as many psycho killers as 'Catcher in the Rye'.

If given the chance, I would poop on his forehead.

Dean Koontz would never do such a thing.
In his book, "Between Two Ages," Brzezinski wrote: "The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values."

I started wondering about him when he came out after demon-possessed-cho shot up vt. It was as if he couldn't see demons were real, not some fictional horror story he could control. He was ranting and raving, like he thought his words would/could make a difference.

Re: "Guns" - Stephen King Confronts NRA Members Head On Calling For Greater Gun Control
he does highlight the fact that the NRA maywelll be one day be responsible for repealing americas second ammendment.

at some point the ever growing stack of dead americans will outweigh it, making it unconstitutional. already at twenty times the firearm death rate per capita as the rest of the idustrialised countries with armed civilians, it may have already passed that limit.

a constitutional law must cater for the entire population to remain valid.

now with the majority of americans in favour of tighter gun control and the NRA blocking
compromise they are paving the way for constitutional overhaul.

it is not as if the said constiution has not been changed in the past, and with it's recent influx of new members, there is sure to be many that joined to helped dig it's grave.

something has to give at some point in the future, and the NRA may just well ensure that

it is the second ammendment itself.
