Of course, college is generally a waste of time. I have advanced degrees and can attest to that.

my wife has a degree, might as well be worth using as ass paper, cause can't find a job in that. She works at a hospital job that doesnt require a college education. The problem with degrees anymore is the grown children all get there mommy and daddy to put them through school, and are all snivelling children in the workforce. They have dilluted the degree pool and are starting to make people w degrees look bad.

It is very shallow to not date someone based on whether they have a degree. I have one, my honey does not.

I prefer someone that can converse on a higher level or else it just gets boring and feels empty. Not only do they need to be educated, but they need to be properly educated as opposed to indoctrinated. So, I would agree with your friend, but I would exclude people that had attended state universities as well.

I married a college-educated man thirty years ago, but I also had a college degree. I don't regret that decision.

A college degree can be a good thing or a waste of time - that kind of depends on what the degree is in and the work ethic of that person as well.

Basically, you should steer clear of someone who isn't intelligent. You should run the other way from one who isn't emotionally secure or has mental issues which run in the family. You shouldn't marry a substance abuser even if he/she does have a college degree.

You should marry someone who is smart, caring, and a hard-worker. It doesn't really matter if he/she is an electrician or a PhD.

One of my "besties" quit at the end of grammar school, 6th grade. He is illiterate in reading/writing and a whiz with numbers & measures. What he lacks in education is more than made up in common sense, a wicked sense of humour, and skills in building houses from ground up. Oh, he also has the uncanny knack of picking up any musical instrument and learning to play it fluently...and he can read musical notation.

His wife of 40-plus years has her Masters of Sciences in Petrochemical Engineering with an emphasis in Horticulture. She's more of a homebody and prefers to be a traditional homemaker.

Please let your friend know one never knows whom one will meet along this journey called life. Lack of a formal education is not the equivalent of lack of life experience.

I think it's a good idea to marry someone with the same education level, age and background. It's not imperative ...but chances of staying together in the long run are better.
