thanks, in fact it's a big problem, that why one should build a magnetic current generator and a illumination device that ca run on this current before this even will happen at least one will still have lights on hsi home that are not just candles :)

there is an explanation of the reason why electicity will stop to work as earth will change is polarity.

bullshit a pole shift would not affect electricity.

Yes it would mess up some more advanced electrical powered equipment but would not affect electrical powered and generated devices in general.

Just use a regular magnetic, mess with it near a regular battery, and see if you stop getting power out of that battery.

For goodness sake, the Earths magnetic field has nothing to do with the operation of any battery, or the operation of electricity in general.

If you think that batteries will not work because of a shift in the earths magnetic fields,sorry but you are wrong.If a shift is too be as massive as you suspect then all it would do to a battery is make the 'positive become negative' and the negative become a positve and everything would still work fine..but then again when i was in school taking auto mechanics (and i am a tractor trailer mechanic now) the teacher told us that 'positive' isn't really positive,it's negative and the same for negative.That the actual power comes from the negative terminal not the postive terminal on a battery,but this was just his thinking.On the web others believe this too..but who knows?..

No. The chemicals in the battery won't suddenly work in reverse. After all, the same batteries work all over the world (and in space) now.

That's not a good explanation, but...

This is correct. When the whole "+" and "-" terminology thing was invented, they had no way to know in which direction the electrons in the current were moving. So by convention it was decided that current came from the "+" terminal (or it was named that way after the decision).

Later it was found that electrons come from the "-" terminal and flow to the "+" terminal; but in designing electric circuits it is still done by assuming current from "+" to "-".

Yep, aircraft may be grounded for a while, and cargo ships at sea may get lost or confused causing the disruption of the delevery of goods.. Depending on how much shift, clocks and time zones may be of no use for several months especially if rotation speed is effected or reversed.

Interesting. I worked at a major emergency roadside company in the US (guess who) a few years ago for several years as a dispatcher. At least 4 times while I was there (average 2x a year) we would have a day with an amazing rash of dead battery calls - at least 30-40% of the service calls. Plus we would hear reports from the contracted drivers of other cases we didn't handle.

Normally I would chalk it up as coincidence, but these were particular days ( can't say when, sorry) and the the majority of the calls were for dead batteries. Almost every time the battery had to be replaced, a jump wouldn't suffice.

Only repercussions were the day after when jumped cars needed a tow because their battery was dead.

It's been several years since I've had that job, I wonder what the concurrency rates are these days..
