Breaking - Liberal college professor arrested trying to blow up Liberty Bell with backpack explosives!

So let me get this right. The profeesor was joking about having explosives and they arrest him for it? Is that how inteligent police are these days?

thrown in jail to become someone's butt bitch -- while also learning

I am going by the links you provided. All I see is the cops charged him with many crimes for saying "there is a bomb in there." You are assuming that he said this and even if he did, he may have been simply protesting this gross violation of the constitution.

So, you are basically saying that a government official can simply claim that someone said "bomb" and lock you up for terrorism, which may entail an extended stay at the guantanamo resort, extensive torture in overseas locations, or assassination.

If he did in fact mean to make a "terroristic threat," then of course he should be punished. But you would have to prove this in court. Any other position, such as the one you appear to be holding, is unamerican.

Who cares if he is liberal, conservative, or a transvestite with a pet kangaroo. If they take away his rights, they can take away yours.

Security cameras undoubtedly show this, or he would have
been released without being charged a day later. I suppose
there could be some sort of conspiracy between the security
guards, local law enforcement, the FBI, etc ... but somehow
I doubt it.

Also, I don't think there would have to be a conspiracy. All you need is a LEO to claim that he heard this guy say something. He was obviously not bowing down to the demands of officers, since he was resisting arrest, so I think maybe they just wanted to teach him a lesson. We don't know.

Why would this man wait until he is being searched to declare a threat? Why not just yell into a crowded area "I have a bomb," and then demand whatever you want? This appears to be a joke in protest.

This should be taken to court as a bomb threat. Nothing more, nothing less. A few of my friends were caught in high school for making bomb threats, and they went to court and were put on probation.

If he was joking, he should be put on probation, and investigated to see if he has knowledge of bombs or possession of materials he will likely use to make them. If he does it again, put him in jail. You can't give LEO's the power to take away your rights. Seriously, you are cheer-leading tyranny. Just admit it, apologize, and delete the thread.

I never said people should be able to do that. He should be punished as a citizen for making a bomb threat. Probation, investigated to see if he has knowledge of bombs and/or in possession of materials he will likely use to make them.

And if he happens to own some naptha and bleach in his basement, you have to prove he wasn't using those for innocent reasons like laundry and stripping paint off his old dresser.
