Not really. Yes they have all those t5hings and they can't stop a few Islamic militants, in Iraq, Afghanistan or any where else they have tried to use them. The "snake" keeps growing new Fangs and Heads!
American's would be a lot more intelligent and resourceful compared to those militants. Thus a much greater threat.
Guns create the feeling of having Independence, and of being able to have Freedom, or at least the hope of such things. Take them away and you demoralize any resistance to the Police State. This program has worked well for many Dictators and Police states.

Most of their weapons are useless against a guerilla war in their own country. Sort of like using a hand grenade in your own living room.
