Re: Does it feel like your life is going in the wrong direction???
You know I am going to chime in and say that this is dandy, but some of us are in situations beyond our control. It is said that you cannot control anything except your reaction to something.

But I'd like to see someone have a positive cheerful reaction to going, say, to court where an ex is charging you with contempt on trumped up charges. Or you can't sell a home and start your simplified life because the economy is tanking. Or your employer has it hanging over you that despite your fine job performance your job might not be there in a few months due to seniority issues.

There are some real practicalities in life that just suck. Many of us are awake enough to want to simplify and streamline but are bogged down by the remaining fallout from failed relationships, economic armageddon, family obligations (caring for sick/older relatives).

It's not all about choice. Sometimes you have no choice. And don't tell me "well change how you feel or think about it." Because caring for a sick, elderly person sucks for everyone involved. You feel bad, they feel bad. You can say "oh, turn that frown upside down. You are helping someone. Blah blah blah." But it hurts seeing someone you love in demise day after day.

A few of us have the RIGHT to be upset about how the path of life is going. Honor us as we fight to change our situation by not telling us to buck up, but rather by saying "I feel for you, brother. I hope it gets better soon."
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31735474

If you went to the Doctor tomorrow and were told that you were terminally ill and only had a few months to live, how would that change your perception of these 'problems' that you highlighted? Would they still have the same level of control & influence over your state of being that they do now?

If you had to reconcile with your impending physical depature from this particular lifetime, would you still be consumed by your failed relationship, your issue at work, or your trouble selling your home? Would these issues still be your #1 priority in life as far as where you should be directing your limited conscious energy & attention?

This is not to say that you can just flip a switch and no longer care about these 'problems'. I'm just providing an example for you how your perspective can be radically different when you consider a different context than the one which you are operating with now. When we approach death, we have to let go of these limitations of the physical world that bind us. Letting go of these physical limitations helps open up our awareness to what holds true value & importance. The thing is though, you don't have to be dying or be terminally ill to move in this direction. You can approach this mindset while you are still healthy.

You are right in that we cannot always control our external circumstances - but we absolutely can control how we react and respond to these circumstances. You don't have to view them as threats to the very core of your being. You are not your job title, nor your martial status, nor your living arrangement, nor your physical body when it comes to the larger context of your existence. All of those things are not you, they are only experiences you are enduring through. Try and view these circumstances not as a threat to who you are, but as 'inconveniences' or even 'challenges' that you are experiencing and hopefullly learning from in the process.

Changing how you feel can be a very slow and gradual process, but you can absolutely make significant process if you stay focused. Take it a little bit at a time. You'd be surprised at how modifying your perception can completely change your response/reaction to your situation, even when your external circumstances remain unchanged. I've found the best way to alter your perception is to continually ask yourself questions to challenge yourself on your current feelings and understanding of the nature of 'things' in this lifetime. I'm talking about serious contemplation & introspection here.

I'd say give it a shot because what do you have to lose?

You are pure brilliance and love. However to get into that state you should realise that adversity is only there as a message to you, it is like a clue in a crossword puzzle. In the law of physics, action and reaction is equal and opposite but you all know that when you give love then much more comes back, it is the Fibonacci spiral. Therefore when you encounter adversity say thank you for the clue and give them love back. It is a fun game because it tests your mind to come up with the answer. Remember also that everything is a reflection. Whatever is in your mind is your future reality. If you think bad thoughts then those bad things will happen to you.
Many will be leaving this 3 dimension (un)reality show and flying into the next heaven dimension. How? With love.

Fear is healthy.

This is all taken from that Donnie Darko weirdo who said that there are only two "emotions," fear and love.

Well, there are far more than two emotions. Humans are ruled by all of them.

Fear keeps us from dangerous things. Fear has kept us alive. Is it healthy to let it overwhelm you in situations that aren't dangerous? No.

Still, this is a simplification of the truth. Cutting fear out of your life only makes a person reckless.

To cut fear out of your life doesnt make you reckless. Because to get there you have to learn to respect all things.

You can change yourself.. not only by positive thoughts and living without fear.. you need to balance, go within, your heart.. there is the seed of this universe of light.. feed it with love, your love and plant it. In this universe we experience duality in its deepest form, you need to find balance.. not only look for only positive or only negative, but balance this both. Balance is the key to life.
 Quoting: Ministar

Everyone will understand that, but to get there they have to remove fear =) I hope you havent forgotten this.

It was the day that you gave in to all your beliefs and fears from the old world that you got a new clarity to FURTHER understand what you write now =)

Dont you feel like the feeling of fear isnt the same now as it was before? You have qonquered the meaning of fear, and understood how it works, how it affects you, therefore you know how to act on it.

Also to understand the people who are struggeling, you have to think like them, not like yourself. What you now know isnt of such importance, its how you got there they need to know^^.

A spark is needed, not the fire!
 Quoting: DontBeAfraidEVER

Sure thing.. I let go of fear by letting go of this illusion, not fighting the system anymore. I had a long way before I was able to be myself more and more every day. That takes courage!!! I also know I can not tell others what to do.. they have their own path and when they are ready, they will let go and being their authentic self again. I know what you are trying to do and for some it will help, but a lot of people just do not understand.. not understand the fear you mean. For instance.. I feared I could loose my youngest child during his surgeries.. but I do not fear this world, the so called powers that were/leaders etc. I just wanted to share my experiences, because if you let go of fear, you also need to balance, otherwise you could really loose yourself.. but eventualy it is what it is, whatever will be..

Fear is an emotional response of the brain (distinct from emotions of the heart) which impairs the functioning of the body. However the fear-response is not mandatory to be able to discern dangerous conditions or unfavorable circumstances. I do not have to actually fear the fire in my fireplace to understand that if I touch it that it will burn my skin. I do not have to fear the sharp butcher knife in my kitchen to recognize that it can cut me if I'm not careful handling it. I do not have to fear toxic substances to acknowledge that ingesting them can kill me. I do not have to experience the physical sensation/response of fear from any of these 'things' to comprehend that they can potentially harm me. I can practice discernment and protect my well-being without invoking a physiological fear response in my brain. I think that is the root of the message here.

You can cut out the fear-response in your life and it will not make you a reckless person because you will still possess the ability to understand the nature of situations which can harm you. Just because you stop having the physiological response/reaction of fear does not mean that you stop having the awareness to interpret your environment.

Emergency room doctors and emergency medical technicians must respond to life-threatening circumstances as part of their profession. If they were to react/respond with fear when called to act, they could not successfully perform their duties. I think that is a healthy example of how individuals can control their emotional response in the face of seemingly 'threatening' circumstances.

Rather than labeling fear as 'healthy', I would view it as functional. It serves a higher purpose and that is the fact that in order to learn to ultimately transcend our fears, we must experience them first.

I've been learning and journeying toward this state of awareness for decades. Lately I've been going through some very emotionally agonizing experience.

And this post - right here - this morning. I get it now. I'm not afraid anymore.

Thank you.

Thank you for this OP.

I do have questions for you though. And forgive me if someone else mentioned this, because I didn't read the entire thread.

But, since you come to GLP, doesn't that completely go against the grain of everything that your post is about? I mean, positive thoughts and words etc. Yet GLP is full of fear and doom and gloom and hate. So basically, if you actually practiced this, wouldn't you stop visiting this site? Or are you simply able to process and compartmentalize more efficiently?

I cannot feel fear the way i once did.

Fear is now a positive thing and not something i frighten. Because i understand it, it cannot trick me anymore. If you know how to overcome fear you have the power of it.

Basically i come here to try and teach people about the ONLY thing i think can change this world. To let go of fear. Im not here to read on conspiracys =)

Step 1: Curiousity
Step 2: Remove limitations caused by fear
Step 3: Find you, find yourself
Step 4: SAVE WORLD :D
Step 5: Become scholars

I feel too many mix up step 4 and 5 ^^

I fully concour with you, but have a very strong (and scientific) notion that time has reversed - and that is to the better.

Time is fractal and it has recently reversed - meaning that things will be OK again - and not as distorted as they have been.

Time is an illusion.

Just think about the fact that two people can have two totally different experiences of time at the same place, in the exact same moment.

Person A feels this day was a long day.
Person B feels this day has been a short day.

Its all in your mind =)

Why do you think the more stressful society get, the less time you have?

It happens only if you accept it.

...its even more that just different time expirences.

Time simply is a means to prevent all events to happen simultaneously, and its also a force shaping the event it self, based on previous patterns.

If we understand this - we will also understand that the answer ALWAYS is embedded in the question, and that there are no co-incidences....none....zip.

The direction has changed a month ago and the rippel effect is starting to show now.....thank god :-)

Re: Does it feel like your life is going in the wrong direction???
Honestly, this needs more attention.

This is one of the best continual threads possible, yet its buried under none other than fear.

My roommate is losing his job. The 2 of us have a lot of debt. The lease to our home is up in April.

But I now have no fear!

It may sound extreme, but I truly believe these minor financial issues will soon not matter.

Because of the situation we were put in, the debt had nowhere to go but up.

This is the same for many Americans, including our government.

Soon enough, the string that holds us will be cut by the blade of negativity and fear.

But when you've fallen to the bottom, you can only go up.

A lot has happened. But I just want to live.

To leave.

Again, we really are ahead of the curve here. People will not realize the downfall until its too late. We analyze the downfall beforehand. Even if we do not think we are prepared, we are.

We are prepared in mind and spirit.

My belief is that we should start being thankful for waking up another morning. For a cup of coffee. For the heat or air, the clothing, the walls that stand and protect us...

Its all we have in the physical realm right now.

Soon, balance will be restored. Love will fill the lives of the people. The idea of "power" banished.

I'm not religious. I don't quite like religion. But I'm very spiritual.

I see this now. Its like watching a caterpillar as it makes its cocoon, an ugly dull shell that engulfs it and keeps it captivate for a good deal of its life.

Eventually that caterpillar becomes a butterfly.

But i will tell you what it is.

It is fear! And basically, all the problems you have in your life is in some way connected to fear. Whatever it is that is keeping you down, its based upon fear one way or another.

Never heard of it, but i did a quick search now and i find it very interesting :) Actually this is excellent ^^ Are you interested in genetic diseases/disorders or was that just accidental?

Also maybe you have heard of the amygdala? I see its even connected to the williams syndrome =) Like always!

But here its because of increased volumes of amygdala,,,hmm ^^

Haha look at these people :P So happy!

Anyways thanks for sharing =) This is like i said very interesting!
 Quoting: DontBeAfraidEVER

Glad you enjoyed it! I think we have a lot to learn from these people. How beautiful to live a life completely without fear and see all people without labels: everyone is your friend. :)

And yes, I had read that it was because they had very developed amygdalas, and thus tend not succumb to negative emotion. The implications are really cool, especially in light of the power of neuroplasticity.

I think its great and empowering to think about how the different regions in our brain communicate with one another to create our experience.. and how this experience can be so flexible over time as different areas/circuits dominate and connections change.

Another interesting subject about the amygdala is how it is involved in the stress response (along with the hippocampus and other structures..in and out of the brain). Stress and emotion mediate memory formation - which is why we remember emotional events so vividly. Some very interesting research along these lines too.

And also love thinking about how the amygdala sends projections to the cortex (including frontal areas), and how the cortex sends reciprocal connections back to the amygdala. So our emotions shape our thoughts and our thoughts shape our emotions. We know emotions influence perceptual filtering, so I always think about how to reinforce the thoughts and pathways that create positive emotions and outlooks, to refine and selectively shape our experiences as we learn and develop our perceptions.
