Your reply made me smile huge because yes, I just recently found, fell in love with, and listened to this entire lecture series. Ive recently taken-up painting, and love to listen to entire lectures series while I paint. We should post a thread about this lecture series - so informative.
Have you seen the lecture series by Leonard Susskind on the same channel? Really computational, but good and he's a brilliant man.
Im still trying to understand all the implications of 'The Measurement Problem'. It'll likely take a while. :)
Quoting: Parabola Hehe ive been following this channel for a long time ^^ Ive seen almost all parts of this series, and yes its great. They have loads of good stuff on that channel =) I havent seen this one, no ^^ But i might sweep through it if you think its good =) And if anyone should post a thread it should be you ^^ I will help you bump it up =) Yes the grant was for research funding. I'm starting a new postdoc in April and this would provide me with up to three years of funding (fingers crossed, its pretty competitive). We are looking at how communication signals are encoded (detected and discriminated) in sensory pathways. We are trying to understand how populations of neurons encode behaviourally-relevant information in an efficient manner to extract relevant stimulus features. Quoting: Parabola Fingers crossed for you then my friend ^^ WRT neuroprosthetics: these devices can be used to help people with sensory and motor deficits. There are sensory neuroprosthetic devices that help people hear or see. Motor neuroprosthetics are used to help people with paralysis or other motor impairments, to move limbs or operate computer cursors or keyboards with their thoughts (motor command intentions). If we understand how neural computations/mechanisms encode stimulus features (and information in general) better, we can improve the performance/resolution of these devices, and the people who use them could have better vision, hearing, or motor control. I'm just getting into this area of research, and I might be a little biased, but I think its pretty great. :) Thanks for the share, and for asking Quoting: Parabola Hehe i dont think its biased at all. A lot of people can have their life enhanced in many ways by these devices =) I just feel that soon we will become robots if you understand what i mean hehe :P
