PepsiCo Removes Potentially Toxic Additive BVO From Gatorade

BVO is used as a stabilizer and emulsifier in Gatorade and other citrus flavored soft drinks, which allows the citrus flavored oils in the drink to stay suspended, rather than separating and having them all float to the surface.
Bromine, one of the ingredients in BVO, has been patented as flame retardant.

Has bvo always been an ingredient, or was this added to gatorade in the last decade? i ask because i used to get terribly dehydrated in 2001-2002 no matter how much water i drank. The docs would tell me to drink gatorade and the one time i did, i puked. Hated the flavor of gatorade ever since then (food aversion).

Most likely a hot dose of bromine.

I was drinking gatorade not more than an hour ago.

As I posted a week ago, if you weren't drinking the Orange kind, that's the one with bromine in it, you are good.

Powerade is naturally flavored. Drink that.

Yup, sure seems to be the "Fire Retardant one" See, from what I recall citrus type beverages separate and the citrus goodies sink to the bottom like sediments in a winter's lake. So it may be possible, to prevent this some greedy opportunist decided BOV would be the best choice. Likely, for the shareholder and not the consumer.
