Re: Huge fireball over central NC
So crazy! I'm on the way home from my in laws house for Sunday dinner and moving slowly across the sky is a huge fireball or something!!!!! This is central NC about an hour ago. Someone shed some light on this for me...what causes it and what is it?!?!? It was like nothing I've never seen before in my life. I'm not making this up. It looked like a ball of fire with a long fiery tail and it was moving slow. Amazing
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22349671

i think we saw the same thing

but i saw it end november 2012 in south africa

i actually have a recording of it which i haven't uploaded to the internet

it moves slowly

i think it's the phoenix, seriously!

Yes, because everyone knows meteors move SLOWLY across the sky.

Actually a meteor(ite) that is large enough to not burn up while entering the atmosphere will eventually slow down to terminal velocity which looks MUCH slower than a typical meteor.

the video i have is clear

it's not a plane, that's for sure (it moves too slow for such a large object to be considered a plane)

i'll upload it later today (slow internet now) and then post here

wtf does a single house fire in CA have to do with a normal meteor shower over the states? sorry but if a meteor the size of which was described by all the tards actually made landfall it would do more than just cause house fire. it would have put a crater in the ground the size of a whole neighborhood. pathetic rofl

Obviously, you don't know that a meteor the size of a grain of sand can produce a very large point of light in the sky.

Since you have no interest in this subject...STFU!

Yes but that is EXTREMELY rare. Not to mention the fact that that would create an enormous explosion, i.e. loud as fuck! Most meteors of that size are going to impact the earth in a significant way.

Yeah, most meteors linger in the air for more than 10 seconds.

The atmosphere is thinner the further up you go, therefor the dynamics of solid objects entering it is going to change according to it's size, composition, and trajectory. You know, 'fluid dynamics'

Confirmed, I was on a usair flight 1506 out of Charolet NC to New York tonight, pilot told passengers over intercom to look out starboard windows to see green meteor coming down if we wanted, did not see personally as I was port side isle seat!

Crazy stuff, had same thing happen in PA a few days ago over my cabin and caught it on security system.

Indecently, also had passengers next to us talking about Archuleta Mesa (no doubt inspired by Ventura's show)

Strangeness.
