She's never sick. If she is it may be soreness or vomiting/diarrhea, but that's really bout it.

I'm thinking it may be because I switched her over on food too fast?

Or its that abscess.

Abcess fluids could have entered bloodstream and be affecting heart and breathing. Take her to pet emergency if you have one close, if you can't get into regular vet. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. Just my opinion, based on having pets.

Glad to hear she is doing okay! And the money issue is understandable, I sympathize. Keep an eye on that absess and get someone to help you drain it if it comes to that.

Another tip: vet can give you meds to make dog sleepy and tranquil if you do decide to drain it. I got chill pills for my cats when we went on a 900 mile car trip, had some left over, and thats what we used when draining kitties absess months later. They were under 10 bucks for about 10 pills. I was not a regular customer of that vet, either, and didnt even have to see my cats.

Keeping good thoughts for you!

FYI, Some vets will use a sliding scale for charges, too.

I'm sure it's not related to this instance, but I had a dog of mine that was about 8 years old do something similar in a matter of a few weeks time. Went from normal and healthy to not wanting to run at all but wanted to walk, to not wanting to walk even. Took her to the vet, who said she had a form of dog aids, a dog specific immune disorder, that was hitting her system. He told us some general meds and she'd be fine, 12 hours later she was dead after going into shock.

I was a mess after that.

Take em to the vet, better safe than sorry.

She may be sad that you are not taking care of her by taking her to the vets to see what's up?
