OP, God does exist. He/She/It is in your very being. Think of it like this. There are two spirits nestled in that meat vehicle of yours. One is yours, one is God. It is the same for everyone. Religion merely points us in the direction of finding God and it is up to us on whether or not we truly want Him/Her/It in our lives. I think you are scared of what it means to truly let God in, the dying of your ego and following your own path. When anyone asks for God to come into their life, they are flooded with His/Her/It's will, requiring a complete surrender of your will in replacement for your Creator's will. We don't need a doctrine or religion to come to this conclusion. All He/She/It requires is that you give up attachment to this world. We are here to progress spiritually, not physically. Physical progression leads to technology becoming our god, it can never provide us with the unconditional love the one true God can. It has become harder than ever to see past this worldly illusion. We have truly become emerged in enjoyable technology, forgetting where it is we came from and why we were sent here. My theory is that we are here to learn to become pure, like Jesus Christ for example. To perfect our actions and thoughts through God's will. I believe this because God may be training to be as gods at some point in time. He/She/It is training us in the harshest of conditions because one day our thoughts may manifest our reality and effect the entire cosmic scheme of all that is. Just an idea, probably wrong. But I do know for sure our Creator loves us without limits and prejudices. If you really want proof of God, I challenge you to ask Him/Her/It into your life sincerely and wholeheartedly. Your life will change in a matter of seconds. I understand your background, mine was quite similar but there is always hope. Don't give up.

All life has a pre programmed purpose for it's life cycle. Most creatures eat/drink have sex and sleep.

purpose is limited, because those things that have pre programmed purpose and those that have after programming thoughts (if they can think) of further purpose besides the initial pre programmed purpose, will die. Sooner or later their purpose is over. All things have purpose untill that purpose is served. It's all pre determined and meaningless. Enjoy it while it lasts. This is what i asked a youth pastor, when i was 10 years old, a long time a go at church. I said, "If God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and Everywhere; then He knew that Adam and Eve would sin in the Garden of Eden. And (if) He knew that Man would fall short of the Glory of God; THen WHY did God even Create Man in the first place?!" and he answered,"to have a relationship with us!"...Well, in my oponion many years later, I don't like the relationship! i mean, He never listens to me, He just uses me like a tool, We never have a decent conversation together without me getting upset(cause He just stares at me and never talks to me)He's always judging me and criticizing me whenever i "sin". which is everyday.
