Mary was never suppose to be worshipped as an idol, but she is an intercessor of prayers for us that is why we say..
Holy Mary Mother of GOD, blessed are thou amongst women, and blessed in thy fruit of thy womb Jesus..Holy Mary Mother of GOD pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death amen....
