water cleaning plants shut down in brisbane for days... preppers win :) water runs out in suburbs, hoarding and supermarkets are running out
water trucks and bottle water being shipped out to suburbs from tomorrow so people will have water to drink over the next three days, as they have shut down the water treatment plants.... 3 or so days....

imagine what happens if you don't have basic kits....

i felt silly, but when we heard we were having the storms and losing electricity, i got out the generator, tea lights, batteries, and filled the bathtub with drinkable water....

don't feel so silly now.... you never know.....

*update*... local news just stated some suburbs out of water tonight...

-water for essential services only, conserve all drinking water...

-don't hoard water; supermarkets running out of bottled water

Thank you for posting this. I hope the people of Queensland get help from the government soon. Dehydration is a serious issue, and they may have raw sewage contamination on their lawns and homes. That frequently happens when the sea breaches the sea wall and causes massive flooding besides the rains coming down. I saw pics of white caps coming in and posted them. I know of cases in the Caribbean where this has happened before and it's a toxic nightmare.

Folks in Queensland, I hope you can prep in the future and I'm praying for you. Look in my sig and click on the first link for cheap practical ways to prep.

In the future, the easiest way to quickly fill up a bathtub safely is a water bob. I am not affiliated with them whatsoever. They are very cheap, and I hope there's a counterpart company in Australia that sells them or a similar product.

If your washer is absolutely pristine (be cautious) and clean then you can quickly fill that up too, and that is easier to ladle water from. You'd carely wipe along the inside of the washer, run two rinse cycles and dumping it out (spin cycle) then fill it. Some older model washing machines have 40-45 gallons (151-170L) but new ones have 14-25 gallons (53-95L) capacity.

You should check your hotwater tank and see if you can drain from the bottom. Many have rust. Check it now, and then you can fix the rust plug before you're counting upon using it.

You're welcome. It's all we can do. We can't make people prep, and they think that, "No worries, the Government will be here soon...right?"

Let's hope that the people of Queensland can soon at least boil water and drink it, and that there wasn't any flooding that caused chemical leaks. That's a worse concern and happens.

I have 2 of those bath bobs. They are AWESOME!

Luckily I havent had to use them yet but in an emergency I will be OK for a good bit with 2 tubs full.

I have filters to make the water taste better as well, so it doesnt taste stagnant so to speak but the filters (drip kind) also act as an emergency back up because I can boil water and put it through and be safe. I have also stored a bunch of refilled soda bottles with water treated with a little bleach..
Ratio 2:1 2 drops of bleach per liter.

I can then filter this to make it taste better as well. Really super easy CHEAP set up I think has me covered.

I included links to be helpful.

Having these on hand has greatly eased my mind.
I use the counter top water filter daily and it is excellent! The water tastes beautiful.
