And not forgetting we need the use of the French aircraft carrier as we don't have one.....
 Quoting: ayr phorce yuan

And what aircraft would you be using, I thought the Harrier Force has been scrapped?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18746766

Indeed they have, so a carrier would be useless, unless we put choppers on it.
 Quoting: strikeforce

You could fly those off a container ship.......

This is the reason mate, very sad, but true. And much of the uranium that gets processed at the plant in Bordering Niger comes from Mali.

Answer........ Uranium is the new oil.

Indeed, the harriers are a thing of the past, a great machine however did not pack much of a punch in regard to what it could carry in theatre.

Drones would be an option but the French pilots would be drunk by the time their drone made it into the battlezone.
The English would let loose on the first target they saw, no matter who it was as the bosses quit paying overtime.

He never said we wern't getting involved, all he said before was no combat role, just logistics.

Lets see if he can keep that promise.
 Quoting: strikeforce

I think now they're saying that there will be a few troops acting as "bodyguards" to the logistics ones. We'll see.

We were due to have the carrier launched F-35s in 2016 with HMS Queen Elizabeth operational in 2017, but it could be longer.

The EU is a franco_german_british babylonian beast, we got the proof now, Germany is the sister banking and manufacturing backup nation.

Without energy Germany can't manucfacture, supply and sell anything to the homeland and francobritish socialized debt slavish consumer economies, but without stolen gold the broken francobritish's can't repay sister banking Germany state.

So it's a win win game from a vulture point of view.

Germany based banksters get the interest piece of cake, the bigger piece.

Malians get the koolaid bonus, visas to fuel the western's middle clas downsizing process.

I still say they should have kept Ark Royal and the Harriers until then, or they could have kept the carrier and borrowed some F-18s.

I agree, but the UK and in particular BAe, will always want an aircaft that it was involved in the design and building of, The Harrier, Tornado, Jaguar, Eurofighter, and the F-35.

Cutting the military and saving money, but still ensuring the defence companies get their money.
