North African situation destabilising
It is just breaking that Tunisia is to also now send its troops into the fray by deploying them along the the orders with Algeria and Libya. Also, that the UK is sending up to 200 troops to help train a west African intervention force in Mali. Also Egypt looks set to implode. It is all kicking off rapidly.

'Tunisia Deals With French Intervention in Mali'
[link to www.al-monitor.com]
January 27, 2013 (posted January 21st)

"The French military operation in Mali is quickly producing tragic developments for several countries in the region. All neighboring countries, especially Tunisia, are feeling the repercussions.

The first signs of the operation’s security effects appeared on Thursday, Jan. 17. Leaked reports said that many of the terrorists who carried out the Jan. 15 attack on gas facilities in southern Algeria have managed to slip into Tunisia. There is information that two 4x4-type vehicles carrying gunmen entered Tunisia.

These developments affected Tunisia and gave a new dimension to the French military intervention in Mali."

Re: North African situation destabilising
The Tunisian state news agency announced on Tuesday that special combat units have been sent to protect it's oil and gas installations against potential attacks along it's border with the two countries. When they were deployed is not stated, so previous poster, you may be correct, but this is the first I've heard of it.
