I'd say this FD itself got "spruced up recently and ready for it's close ups.

Funny you should mention that. There had been some discussion about the images/site of the fire station being fake based on comparisons of Google Earth images.

I disagreed with the fakery...but what I did notice from those Google images was...the back part of the fire station appeared to be missing.

I have no idea how accurate/up-to-date Google Earth is so I went looking for some story in the local rags that might mention upgrades to the station. I didn't find any and was involved in other aspects of the investigation...so I dropped it.

I had assumed that the back half of the station was sleeping quarters but now that I think about it, that's completely unneccessary (and expensive) in such a small town.

Perhaps those Google earth images should be looked at a lil more closely...?

There is definitely no "sleeping quarters" in any fire department buildings in the town of Newtown (Sandy Hook is a small section of Newtown.) Why? Because the Fire Department is 10% VOLUNTEER.

This is a point numerous GLP'eople have not realized. So, for example, when the Sandy Hook firefighter who said he was "across town" when he first saw the helicopters and the sirens, and decided to rush to the firehouse, that is potentially plausible. That firehouse rarely or never has someone stationed inside of it, waiting for fire alarms to be called. Instead, the 100% volunteer fire department throughout the town all have single blue sirens which they can put in their dashboard when their cellphone or pager alerts them that they are needed to respond to the firehouse.
This is very common in small towns and villages throughout Connecticut, to have a 100% volunteer fire department.

Why do you think the fire house has so many bays? "8" garages?!! Even in larger cities, they don't have than many units ready to roll.
