Re: Patriots v.s. Government --- "Comparison" - "By The Numbers"
Would it be beneficial to consider weaponry instead of just "boots on the ground?" I was a combat medic in an armored battalion and developed great respect for heavy weapons with state of the art technology onboard. A squad of M-1A1 Abrams tanks vs. AKs and ARs ??? This isn't the 18th century when both sides had comparable arms. Most of your tough talking wanna-be militia neighbors will piss themselves. Then they'll turn in their guns and snitch on you.
Jes' sayin'...take care of your own shit and ignore everybody else.

You think this will be force on force? You think anyone is dumb enough to attack a tank with an AR?

Of course not, but those tanks will prevent fuel, food and supplies from getting to the resistance in your town. Most Americans can't handle their cable TV going out for a few hours, how do you think they will respond to living for weeks cold and hungry in the dark?
It won't be force on force. It will be psychological. When your genny runs out of fuel and your babies bellies are bloated, you'll turn in your guns. Or your neighbor will turn you in first.
Let's face it, with few exceptions we aren't made of the stuff our forebears were. We are weak willed and soft.

It is almost certain that if this civil war gets hot, TPTB will be ruthless. It won't be foot soldiers, it will be technology. Drones, Bio-Chem, EMP's; all the cards on the table because this is their "Hail Mary Pass" to win the Superbowl. (sorry, 4 cliche's)

I read a thread here the other day about the military litmus test. 'Will you fire on Americans.' I got to thinking that maybe half would say yes (But really wouldn't) They know why that question was being asked, and if they just marked the yes box it comes with higher rank with pay.

I don't think the Gov is getting accurate data like they like to think they are.
 Quoting: Tanarus

About 12 years ago, the Marine Corps did a survey at Camp Pendleton on this subject. Believe me, many, if not most GI's would indeed shoot on Americans.

Twenty years ago, most troops would never think of killing women and children. Now, after a decade of Iraq/Afghanistan, it is a non-issue.
First, you dehumanize the enemy. Call them Haj and Sand N#ggers. Tell stories of mothers with babies wearing suicide vests, etc...next thing you know, everyone who is not on our team gets lit up. The same demonizing psychology is being initiated against gun owners, militias, etc...the seeds are being planted that the booger men with the black rifles and 30 round mags are the bad guys.

And that's the key: OUR team. Any veteran on GLP will tell you that units fight with and for their unit. Their battle buddies. NOT for god and country and all that crap. First time a modern-day minuteman shoots and kills a soldier on the team, the whole f-ing battalion comes down on you and your militia.

This isn't a video game. Ask anyone who has been there.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33285656

Don't think so, if you are referring to the survey at 29 palms about 1995. Most said they wouldn't.

God and country is "crap" to a soldier in Afghanistan or Iraq because even the dimmest intellect realizes that isn't what it is about.

A.C........I have to tell you seriously, that you need to step back, take a deep breath, and look at the big picture.

Your romanticizing the brotherhood between a unit is well noted. It's acknowledged. It's understood.

Your suggestion that patriots have been getting their inspiration, training, et al, from video games.....is Severely mistaken.

There are hundreds of groups within Each State that are known, and a plethora of groups around each State that are unknown, who have been Expecting this. Who have been Training for this. Who have become so pissed off at the oppression they've seen slowly strangle the country for decades, that they will Not hold anything back.

If the units you speak of are so foolish to obey unconstitutional orders and enter the hearts of each State where they will be expected, that will be the last of them.

Do NOT compare what they will be facing in this country with what they've faced over seas.

This is an interesting conversation.
Again, TPTB have considered all scenarios. The officer corps is full of politicians - not many warriors left. The enlisted ranks are full of gang bangers and the working poor who joined for a J-O-B, not out of any sense of duty. The wild card is the Non-Coms - the Sergeants, Petty Officers and WO's that do the real leading in the field. Most are lifers, have families, and have probably been in for ten or more years. THEY would mutiny if their families were harmed. IMHO.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33285656

I keep hearing they won't say it but would love to turn on their masters like a rabid dog if orders came down for anykind of aggressive action against American citizens. I still think all this is unlikely since everyone pretty much without exception is either in the military, has been in the military, has friends in the military or family members curently serving. The services are made up of us. If the military were to harm citizens then they are harming themselves and their families.

Speak for yourself. Psychology works both ways and there are many more intangibles than your simplistic fear mongering would have it.

Not to mention the battle space itself. The combined ground forces of whatever troops remain loyal to tptb couldn't even handle Los Angeles.

I really doubt that the US military will even get involved.

In fact, 2 had been asked that question awhile back and figured they needed to be there to stop any such bullshit so they lied and said yes.

Read something recently on this topic of military spouses & families. It was strongly suggested that before anything starts to heat up on the domestic scene, soldiers need to move their families off of the base and even out of the same town as where they are stationed.

Move them back to their hometowns so they'll have the protection and support of family, friends and community.

Because the PTB will round up all the military families of units that are being assigned to engage with civilians "for their safety", to be held as hostages to force the military to obey unconstitutional orders. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT STALIN DID TO HIS TROOPS MANY TIMES.

Remember not too long ago the military for some unstated reason, demanded that all personnel & household members relinquish any personally owned firearms, both on base or at their houses even if they weren't living in military housing? This was why; they want them defenseless.
