Can you love your country, but hate your government?
.

Let me ask it a different way ...

In a land based on democracy and majority, are we simply getting the
government we deserve?

Re: Can you love your country, but hate your government?
You can, but only if you feel your country is your NATION. If your country consists of a few nations lumped together it's unlikely you will love anything at all.
"White privilege" is the liberal religion's version of Original Sin: you are born guilty, and you carry that burden of guilt all your life, and the only way to escape eternal damnation is for white people confess their sin, to bow, kneel and believe the dogma of the Church of Liberalism, genuflect at its altars, honor its saints, fill the collection plate, and never, ever doubt.

Without a doubt, yes. Our government consists of a limited number of douchebags which we made the mistake of entrusting with power. That will change soon.

Based upon my understanding of the God-given rights of the
liberties recognized by our Founders, I'm beginning to realize
we are only getting the government we are willing to tolerate.

Countries and governments only exist on paper.

In truth, there are only land masses and individuals.

Predictably, when you allow a small group of individuals a monopoly of violence, theft and fraud.. you get ruled over by a bunch of violent sociopaths...commonly referred to as 'government'.
"Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based of five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, or county commissioners." - Edward Abbey

"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist." -Lysander Spooner

"If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skin into their clothing, and if we're very very lucky, they'll do it in that order." - Firefly

Yes, shaped by thousand of years of complex historical events.

Re: Can you love your country, but hate your government?
Yes. The land was here long before the us gov and it was loved by the natives.

truth be told, the gov doesn't even run the country anymore. There are 3 pillars of power that maintain control. Ideas, money, and military.

As to the first...what is the major concept that americans believe in to explain the past, present, and future? Religion. There are so many different versions of religion yet all of them tell you what to believe, laws to obey, how man was created etc. America was founded specifically so churches could not dictate its gov, but they still maintain a powerful influence on society.

Money: it's a pretty obvious one in terms of power. Yet who prints it? The federal reserve. Money used to be notes representing gold or silver that you can redeem at any time. But the private banks that make up the fed reserve print much more worthless paper than there is of either. The very fact that private banks are printing money is unconstitutional.

Last there's the military. You've seen the movie lord of war I assume? the military gets the majority of its weapons from...no surprise...private companies. the military is also funded by taxes and borrowed loans which brings us back to the second pillar.

The first ideas of america weren't that bad. Now it's basically a police state owned by private corporations.

I don't blame you for not believing in america like you used to. A lot of people don't
