It's been reported that Mr. Dykes is requesting for a reporter to go inot the bunker, and share his story with the public. It seems he feels he's been wronged in some way (not sure if through the military/govt, etc).

Oh and now your cousin is the head of the SWAT team for the whole state of Alabama.

According to neighbors that is the longest that he has stayed down there by himself. What they need to do is let a "reporter"...cough....swat guy in a suit..go in there and put a taser in the microphone and stun the guy. I am not sure why they dont throw some sleeping gas into the ventilation shaft while he is sleeping.

I'll tell you why I think Mr. Dykes has a problem with the current reporters.

They're not really listening to him. They're talking about him as a suspect ,and not as a person. He wants to tell them his story.

And why would he take this neighbor who he claims to have had a confrontation with down and give him the grand tour so that CNN can draw for the folks at home a nice animated

Something feels really off about this story. Why no interviews of the parents of the boy taken begging for his release? Why no names for local church prayers like usual for public crises like traditional for Dothan area? Where are interviews with this church? Too much missing.

I would go, as I stated before. I am an older, petite female, totally non-threatening in appearance. As a talk show host, I have a lot of experience listening to callers, some of whom I disagree with, but that is what freedom of speech is about. As a freelance reporter, I see things with differant eyes than many of the general public.

That's really nice of you Tiger1 and we know you'd be great. Maybe he's heard you before on the radio. Seems I read he likes to listen to conservative radio.

Whether or not they'll let anyone go is anyone's guess but doubt we'll know any time soon.

I think they treat each situation differently depending on many circumstances but with the safety of everyone being at the top of their priorities.

They probably don't want to end up in a hostage "exchange" situation where the reporter wouldn't get out or that they'd lose any ground they'd gained.

That it's gone on this long is a good thing. Mr. Dykes probably knows he made a big mistake in the beginning, but has a chance to help right that wrong. He's bargaining with them and that's a major step for helping himself and getting the little boy out.

I think you might have a better shot at getting through to him than some of the negotiators.

I would also go. Although I'm not a reporter, I do write for a newspaper. My husband said no woman should go down there though. He's afraid they would be raped.
