I'm sure the Mom feels that way too. Though any of us would be upset by hm being gone and of course angry, there would also be gratitude that he wasn't harmed. Takes a strong man to care for a little boy, especially an autistic little boy. Even as a mother, can you imagine the stress of being in a 4 by 8 underground place with a crying child? I sometimes wonder if Mr. Dykes is reading here. If he does, I hope he stays strong to protect the little guy til he lets him go.

Aspbergers is a mild form of autism. Children will often be diagnosed with one then the other, depending on the doctor they see, and how responsive they are from day to day. In other words, on a child's better days they may appear to have aspbergers, and autism on their worst.

You don't understand about Midland City. It is a tiny town, and very, very close-knit. Everybody is related to or friends with everybody else. That's the way it is down here in these small southern towns. If they don't know Ethan, they know his parents, family, or at least know of him.

I'm not trying to make people believe it. I'm just saying I live right down the road. I drive past the scene every day, Some people from my church live in Midland City, and atteneded the bus driver's funeral. They knew Ethan...not well, but they knew him.

For starters, offer him a live stream video on the radio station, so he could air his views.

It's propaganda to make people suspicious of their neighbors who prep.
Alabama is a strong gun rights state.
That's why they had TWO gun propaganda stories in one week.
A school shooting and now the prepper story for good measure.

Just why did this guy take this boy from the bus? How did he know the parents? What does he want?

Just like Sandy Hook. Did they need 100s of guys in fatigues there when the "story" was a single shooter shot at the scene. And yet they marched around town for several days menacingly.

No actually, he's in business management. He considered going into the military but I presauded him to get his degree and do something with that. For one, I was afraid I'd never see him again. Two, I don't support their military and their crazy kiling sprees.

He's lucky to have you. My cousin was military, then went into LE. Kind of made me sick. Worry about him a lot. Glad your husband listened.

Thanks. Your cousin sounds like a great guy...very successful. I believe the military is full of great guys. Unfortunately, they have no control over some of the things they're asked to do.

If you talk to him, please share his thoughts on all this. It would be intersting to hear his opinion, with his background and all.

Even if you do not accept cannabis as the answer itself, it should be hard to accept that by and large we still have not found effective and reliable ways to utilize the eCB system in modern western medicine. After all, the most potent (meaning it takes the least amount to produce a threshold effect) substance know to humans is not LSD as many still assume but is instead a derivative of fentanyl, know as Carfentanil. The threshold dosages for LSD and Carfentanil are 20-30µg (micrograms) and 1µg, respectively (Wikipedia, 2 & 3). This makes Carfentanil 10,000 times more potent than morphine, 100 times more potent than fentanyl, and 20-30 times more potent than LSD. At least up until 2005 and unlike LSD, Carfentanil was(is?) regulated as a Schedule II substance in the US (Erowid). For those that do not know, this means that despite perceived extreme dangers from use or abuse of this drug it is still assumed to have medical value. With the lives and well being of so many veterans AND private citizens at stake, those in the scientific community and police makers alike cannot afford to miss the wake up call. Even a child should be able to see the hypocrisy evident in the relative policies concerning cannabinoids and opiates. It is time to fix this appalling imbalance in our policies concerning the pharmacopia or else be the laughing stock of future generations.

Thanks, he's always been so busy. Always doing something. I know there are a lot of good guys in the military and LE, but it's just not something you want someone you love, doing. Especially when you know how kind and good hearted they are.

It's the good ones that suffer. They want to save the kids, but they also understand where the hostage taker is coming from in a situation like this and want everything to end peacefully. That has to hurt.

Best I don't call. I'd have to pull my computer out of the wall and go into a bunker myself to keep from telling if I found out any info. He probably wouldn't tell anything important right now anyway.

It's been reported that Mr. Dykes is requesting for a reporter to go inot the bunker, and share his story with the public. It seems he feels he's been wronged in some way (not sure if through the military/govt, etc).
