Breaking - 'Security incident' at Nevada nuclear site

Emergency officials responded Tuesday to a "security event" at the Nevada National Security Site, an official told CNN.

"All we have is that it's a security event and that local and federal authorities are assisting," said Darwin J. Morgan, a spokesman for the National Nuclear Security Administration.

All employees are accounted for and there were no report of injuries, said spokesman Dave Taylor. The incident began to unfold shortly before 4 p.m. (7 p.m. ET), when a "suspicious item" was discovered outside the device assembly facility security perimeter fence, he said.

They don't usually announce NEST Team activities like this...

Unless it serves their own agenda...there's probably an assault rifle with a 50 round mag, 1,000 rounds of ammo, and a night scope in the "suspicious package". Oh, and a copy of the Prepper's Bible.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

Why would they need a team of NNSA technicians, scientists, etc
when it's just a little "security incident" of a "suspicious item"?

Pin this pin and let's get some reports from the area!

Any atmospheric nuclear radiation spikes reported on
CIVILIAN-owned monitoring equipment yet?

Re: Breaking - 'Security incident' at Nevada nuclear site
I was born and raised in Vegas. Spent MANY weekends back in the 1990's as a teenager exploring and camping with my buddies all around Southern Nevada and the Arizona Strip area north of the Grand Canyon. Talk about desolate! We used to camp right on White Sides Mtn. and use my friend's dad's deer hunting spotting scope to look right down into the "Area 51"/Groom Lake Base. The Feds annexed the mountain into the "Test Site" boundaries since then and the closest spot you can legally reach now to get a glimpse into the base is Tikaboo Peak, which is about 15 miles further away than White Sides Peak. Still fun to go up there though and camp when the whether is good. Any Las vegas will tell you that the weather is only good for about 3-4 months out of the year. Other than that, its either too hot or too cold in southern Nevada. Tikaboo is pretty high though so the climate on top is always cooler than the desert valley below.

Anyways, sorry to ramble.
I found this link regarding the "Device Assembly Facility" at the Nevada Test Site dating back to 1998 I believe...

Are you kidding?
Nevada can't afford to get rid of Harry Reid. He's a bastard, for sure! But that bastard is one of the most powerful politicians in D.C. and as long as he is in power, a relatively insignificant state like Nevada can be sure to have more swing than it truly deserves on Capital Hill when it comes to local issues. I was raised LDS, just like Reid and Romney. In fact, my grandpa and Reid played on the same church basketball team for years. I'm an Independent Conservative and I voted for Romney. I've NEVER voted for Reid, but I can CERTAINLY understand why Nevada hasn't removed him from D.C. and brought him back home to Searchlight...

Maybe the device has been there for a while, and todays heightened (??) security simply found it.

That is a realy long fence line,

and it's quite a ways from town.

Also, why leave something at the perimiter of such a huge desolate area like that? (maybe they intended it as a safe storage hiding in plain sight type of thing)

Any news on the specifics of what it is exactly?

Reid is a piece of shit who should not be anywhere near a political post. People like him have ruined America. He is an unconvicted criminal with known mob ties. Reid was even portrayed as a crooked politician on the movie Casino.
