Probably an emergency landing of a secret plane. Westover AFB was a major SAC site, has long runways and still would have some degree of security. If you had to put down something big on the East Coast in a hurry you'd head to Westover.

The Notch near Westover had the backup site to NORAD.

It hovered over someone's car on Rte 9. Silently. Certainly not the C5 that the airbase said may have been it.

On a wooded mountainside overlooking the valley and the UMass campus in the town of Pelham was where my maternal grandparents lived and now my mom lives there. All through my childhood when I was visiting my grandparents home, there were all kinds of strange phenomenon. As soon as I walked in the house I felt "shivers up and down my spine." Disembodied voices and footsteps would follow me down the creaky stairway into the basement. I would see apparitions, cabinet doors opening and closing in plain view and plasma spheres floating about the property. It is adjacent to the Quabbin Reservoir and it is normal to see deer, moose, coyotes, bears and wolves. It is a beautiful but haunting area. I have hiked throughout the area and attended college there. There is much mystery and energy there, more than I care to think about. So it was way cool to see this post! Thanks OP!
