Well, at least they can capture the government market as governments will mandate use of the new system with monthly fees. They will also mandate use of the system by contractors, specifying use in the terms and conditions of contracts.

I predict part of this new bill will introduce some new digital fingerprint type system that people will be required be a part of to logon to the new internet.
Total control of the news(again),software, movies and music is exactly why everyone is pushing SO hard for Cloud based software, they feel they will be able to control piracy and of course rake in mega profits.

Gates doesn't run the company anymore and he's made it clear that he hated the direction it went. As much as you want to hate the man, he was the one that actually brought us the personal computer to an affordable level. It wasn't Steve Jobs or anyone else. Steve Jobs computer was expensive, Gate's computer was cheap and affordable. He provided a cheap alternative which exploded around the world. Keep in mind, he was fighting big giant IBM and computer manufactures that wanted to keep draconian methods to keep everything in control via terminals and mainframes. It was his methods that gave us all these open computers that allowed other operating systems to expand like linux. It was him alone that allowed all the IBM clones to expand like crazy, giving us what we have today. Steve Jobs brought elegance to computing but Bill Gates made it possible to have a fucking computer in the living room, otherwise we'd still be in an era with IBM mainframes.

It's pretty sad seeing his company go the route of IBM and doing the same shit all over with the age of terminals and mainframes.

Linux rules. Ubuntu is nice. Mint is maybe nicer. Bodhi is my latest fav. I haven't tried Redhat or OpenSUS yet, but they are said to be very good. For predators and the suspicious nothing even comes close to BackTrack.
