I'm down with all the support/understanding. Really, I sympothize.
But what to do when she screams at me like a lunatic and tells me if I don't leave she'll call the cops? Then when I try to leave (only temporarily to let things calm down) I get screamed at for "walking away". I try to be supportive, tell her I love her and that all will be OK to no avail.
If something doesn't change, she may leave on her own or force me to, even though I've been understanding and supportive.

Just ignore her. The difference between an adult and a child is that an adult can take responsibility for their feelings and not dump them on innocent people.
