I knew something was wrong... My Mama died January 5th and I started hearing music that same day. It's like a radio playing somewhere with an orchestra and lots of violins = like "old movie music".

I knew it wasn't real... it had to be in my head. I actually thought I was losing my mind. LOL

Made an appointment with my doc and he ordered an MRI. Now it doesn't seem so funny !!

I could sure use your prayers.

Thanks.

Hi there. I don't really post on here much but for some reason I felt the need to give you my best wishes. I do not hear sounds that seem audible, but often have orchestras playing in my head, which is neat.

I hope you can stop being scared because I'm sure there are many innocuous causes for such symptoms and perhaps he ordered the mri for you as a precautionary measure.

Your best chances of success are if you start eating healthy, exercise, RELAX, and try not to be afraid NOW. Getting your body into an ideal state might actually fix the problem, ease your fear, or if there is a problem, increase your chances of success.

WOW !! That orchestra distracts me !! It's nearly constant and when I want to sleep.... I want it to stop. LOL

Thank you for responding. It's nice to know I'm not alone.

I was married to a musician and wondered if being so close to those huge speakers for so many years might have damaged my ears (or my brain) LOL.

I think it will be about three months since i was experiencing music which i have recently found out is in my head . I have not had much sleep . I am very tired and anxious. I have been prescribed antidepressants but i am worried about the side effects. The music i hear is marching music which entails drums and bagpipes, also i hear Scottish music, songs and hymns. I would also like to point out that i am not deaf or hard of hearing. I am 65years old.I do not seem to be getting much help.

wow thats amazing! Perhaps it's something to give your comfort after your Mama's passing.

Did she like old movies? Can your read music? If you can, maybe you can write down the notes. Take it all in, try to accept this new ability.

Sometimes we get blessings & gifts, but not ready to understand them. Use this to your advantage. Try not to get annoyed by it. Just ask our Father in heaven, what is happening? And to turn down the volume, or switch it off, when you need rest.

It's all how you look at things. Will you look it this as a gift, or curse.

The composer Robert Schumann claimed he heard music that he then wrote down to produce the Ghost Variations. Paul McCartney has said that he woke up one night and simply heard the tune for "Yesterday". In some cultures, musical hallucinations are regarded as a privilege, a blessing, but in our own they've been associated with fear of losing one's mind and huge stigma remains.

Try to sing or hum along with the music. Any message in the notes or song?

My prayers are with you.

You could try playing classical music. Music has an effect on the brain, but classical helps both sides of the brain.

Re: I have "Musical Ear Syndrome" - had an MRI on my brain today and I'm really scared !!
Classical music affects the brain’s organization and abilities, through its melody and rhythm. The rhythm raises the level of serotonin produced in your brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, involved in the transmission of nerve impulses that helps maintaining joyous feelings. When the brain produces serotonin, tension is eased. In fact depression is a consequence of the scarce production of this hormone. Serotonin is released when the brain is “positively shocked”. For instance: if we look at a splendid painting, smell a delicious scent, feel an extraordinary sensation, eat something delicious or listen to some charming music, then the brain lets off a certain amount of serotonin which arouses and maximizes pleasant feelings. Music’s rhythm can also stimulate other natural cadencies of the body, resembling the heartbeat, or the Alfa-rhythm of the brain, and this effect is used to counter the development of clinical depression. The melody instead, is the “sparkle” that catalyses the creative process in our minds.

I suffer from the most absolute INSANE tinnitus. Like a 1970 Moog synthesizer wailing in my head all day and night. It is LOUD! Kind of interesting that I sleep with my head directly on the other side of the wall from a smart meter.

OP.. I had this too when I was younger.. though it was not annoying and I had the ability to turn it off. I fortunately have the ability to "direct" the sound and create deep harmonies within my head.. I ultimately became a musician but I still have difficulty recording the "symphonies" to a practical medium... until I started singing them. It took a decade of singing but I have a range now that allows me to sing most of what I hear. This plus a loop station and we're having some fun..

Anyone ever think that HAARP could be causing this. I read a while back something about it could be used to focus signals at low frequencies and cause a humming sound to be heard. Like a subconscious audio being forced into our heads. Sounds far fetched but today I think many things that occur are far fetched until we are reading about it happening.

First off I would find others that have this issue to and see if by chance you and them started to here this around the time. If so start to look up new technologies that play with sound frequencies that came out around then. Just something to look into after all we never know what TPTB do in their spare time.
