MYOFASCIAL RELEASE..Muscles & Fascia..Trigger Points..Self-Massage...acupressure mat..!!!
If I were a multi-millionaire, I would employ my own personal, on-call massage therapist. I would likely take a deep tissue massage upon waking every single morning, as well as a deep tissue massage after lifting weights & exercising.

Since I am not yet that wealthy, I must settle for self-massage.

I have been researching myofascial release, trigger points, and self-massage, and I must say....It works!

Very, very inexpensively, one can begin to be quite good at these techniques.

Currently, I use two lacrosse balls (lacrosse balls are slightly larger than tennis balls, and are heavier- lax balls are made of solid, dense rubber) and a golf ball, and I have an inexpensive wood roller. I also have tennis balls, but I prefer the deeper, more painful/uncomfortable lax balls which provide a better feeling when done.

So...do you do myofascial release?

Trigger point?

I use the golf ball under my foot! I can stand with almost my entire weight on the golf ball! It hurt at first, but it is so relaxing and it has so many benefits...my posture is improved! The first time I did it, I heard a lot of pops and resettling of the tiny bones in my feet and toes, and it felt amazing! When I say it "hurt" I mean it hurts the way a really good, deep massage might hurt at the moment the muscles are being kneaded, but the incredible relief and comfort you feel immediately afterward and for some time...that makes it worth it!

I also bought a acupressure mat, which is basically a yoga mat with 200 hard acrylic discs covering the mat, and each disc has blunt-tipped sharp points all over it (each disc has ~3 dozen blunt bumps on it.) I like that, and it stimulates blood flow to large areas.
I can not stand on the mat barefoot though, with all my weight at least. I usually wear thin socks to do my feet. But I like to do my whole body, including my face and scalp!

I would love to hear about your expertise, experience, and interest in myofascial release, trigger points, etc.!

I do not care about stars or ratings. I do care about your experience with this subject though!

I think many posture and flexibility as well as comfort problems could be alleviated by these topics.

I know it feels really good after I do myofascial and trigger point therapy on myself, and I only know what I know from watching youtube videos and searching for information online.

I am looking for your experience!

I just finished an hour long myofascial release/trigger point full body exercise, and I feel amazingly limber and fluid!

I was thinking too, self-massage is such an excellent demonstration of self-love.

I'll bite. :). Absolutely! I do this myself and I love it. Major pain and stress Relief. I also use essential oils for lymphatic tissue.

I bought that S shaped trigger point bar on amazon. Oh my god. Awesome! Helps get my back area, places I can't reach.

What are you using the lacrosse balls for?
Be civil to all; sociable to many; familiar with few; friend to one; enemy to none.

I put the two lacrosse balls together on the ground, and I lay on them for a couple minutes in each position. On either side of my spine, all up my back. I also use the ball against my lats and a wall, and against my pecs and a doorframe.

that is the mat I purchased. I love it. I wish I had gotten one that is full body length, six feet long. Oh well, gotta lay on it in sections. Love it though!

Favorite trigger points for me run the length of the outer thighs..About where pants seams are..This is a major ligament that takes most of the stress of walking upright/balancing.

Walk your fingers up and down..or try a fluorite sphere to clear the stuck energy. Great for foot massages..Amazingly does not hurt...though you can feel the pressure.

Best stone that I have tried, as I like to combine massage/acupressure with stones &crystals. Faster results in less time.

Wish we had commercials out the wazoo that promoted THAT instead of things like food/toys etc...

Touch in general is a healing thing we can do daily and most people discredit how BADLY it's needed and how easily it can make someone feel better...

Great topic!

I don't personally know much about massage but I think as humans we have a natural instinct for touch and feel...obviously some poeple get traumatized by things (which later intereferes with those natural instincts) but it'd be nice to see people figure it out for themselves what works and doesn't...

I've never heard of those mats... :eyebrow: might have to check those out...
