Red Hot Chilean Pepe User ID: 33367606 Chile 01/30/2013 11:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am partner in a company that owns a small share on another company we helped to start up that produces a microalgae based astaxanthin. We had a contract with the company that sells the Astaxanthin to Dr. Mercola, but we could not sustain the supply (producing this algae is a very complex process and we are currently having troubles to reach our past performance). Astaxanthin is the more powerfull natural antioxidant, at least is what our marketing department sustains, and there is some in vitro gathered evidence. However, and I say this against my best interests, but is the truth, the carotenoid present in red bell peppers, known as capsanthin, is as good as astaxanthin, and far cheaper, as astaxanthin is sold at US$5 per gram, while capsanthin is around US$20 per kilogram. Just so you know it. BTW, our company also owns a half of another company that sells omega 3 concentrated fish oil, and we also sell another product that is astaxanthin enriched omega 3 concentrate. It's very expensive, but it has a dramatic health effect, improving many aspects in just a couple of weeks. Many high altitude mining workers here in Chile are taking it as a routine. All great truths begin as Blasphemies. G.B.S. GLP is like a diamond mine of information, in the sense that you have to shovel mountains of crap to find the diamonds, but it's still worth the pain. |

Very interesting. When you say "capsanthin" do you mean "capsaicin"? Capsaicin is the healing property in peppers (not just red bell peppers) but it has different properties than astaxanthin. Or are you saying there is a separate carotenoid called capsanthin? |

I'm talking about a carotenoid called capsanthin that is also a strong antioxidant: [link to pubs.acs.org] All great truths begin as Blasphemies. G.B.S. I take it as an anti-inflammatory. I can def tell it has helped, been taking it for 6 months. I take Vit D3, fish oil and BioAstin. I also use living fuel, shit is an antioxidant cocktail. I have not been sick since taking it along with the 3 other. PEACE! |

I looked at Wikipedia and it doesn't mention anything about health benefits, just as a food coloring. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Do you have any links to studies about it? |

The bottle says to take 1-3 per day which would be 12 mg. I didn't know about taking it with fat. I took mine tonight with a salmon filet so I guess I did the right thing. What type of fish oil do you take? What is living fuel? |

The link I provided is a study of the in vitro activity. I don't know of any animal or human studies, but you should know that no one will invest in such study for an antioxidant that is cheap to produce, it would not be a good bussiness, but it's certainly healthy.
