Re: Vitamin A Conspiracy???
Spring Pasture butter, pasture eggs, heavy whipping cream, meat with the skin and fat....

I was buying some yogurt for my son the other day and we like the "greek" yogurt--and 99% of it is all ZERO fat--and the rest is like 1% or 2%. If you read the label it states that it is made from skim milk--where is the fat--they take it out to sell as butter.

The truth is there isn't enough butter (pasture raised) and pasture eggs etc. to go around for everyone.

Most people won't pay extra for it--

My husband takes a tablespoon of cod liver oil every morning.

they add vitamin A and D to milk because they are essential nutrients.

Most people know the stuff they add back in isn't as good as what should have been there in the first place.

They are trying to sell you what they have abundance of--canola oil, soy, vegetable oils and marjarine.

Read up on Paleo eating or HFLC diets. Traditional fats are essential to health.

cream, and butter that is pasture raised will be pale yellow, they dye butter now because the stuff they want to sell you is almost white--because it is so low in vitamin A.

Grass fed milk in the spring is naturally light yellow in the fat.

Great topic OP!

Another thread today about Kale and Carrots curing nearsightedness fits with this one...

I scraped my hand earlier tonight and took the opportunity to grab a slide and look at my blood under the microscope (too pussy to stick myself).
Not sure what I was looking for/at, I found some videos of live blood samples and some awesome info.

Not directly related to vitamin A, there are many such videos, just watch one and you'll see... everything can be cured with a healthy immune system, which is a lot easier to develop than people realize!

Dont forget the The X Factor of Weston A. Price which is believed to be vitamin K2 which is present in all those foods you mentioned which is almost non existent in the modern western diet.

Sources include organ meats from cows eating green grass, fish, eggs and shellfish. Butter can be an especially rich source of Activator X/vitamin K2 when it comes from cows eating rapidly growing grass in the Spring and Fall seasons ... the yellower the butter the better.

Re: Vitamin A Conspiracy???
i came across something i think on GLP can help me with.
i even googled "vitamin a conspiracy" but all i could find was the vitamin d and the vitamin c conspiracy.

my darlings, let me bring you VITAMIN A DOOM.
you know you have been waiting.

so here is a place google wants you to go right away if you google vitamin a.

[link to www.healthaliciousness.com]

it states that the foods highest in vitamin a are:

1. liver 2 . paprika 3. sweet potatoes 4. carrots 5. darly leafy green (kale) 6. butternut squash 7. parsley 8. dark colourful lettuce (not the kind you get on your burger) 9. dried apricots 10. cantaloupe

so none of these foods are strange to us. but how much does the AVERAGE american consume any of these foods on any sort of regular basis (remember back in the 60s/70s and even into the 80s somewhat you'd get a dash of paprika and a sprig of parsley with each meal? the paprika never had a taste and seemed only decorate, as well as the parsley. who eats that really? i mean a regular significant amount of fresh parsley? the AVERAGE american i am speaking of)

ok, so then HERE is a comment:

"Vitamin A Mislabled

I find consistently that "experts" wrongly claim vitamin A to be be present in fruits and vegetables. This is scientifically wrong, and technically wrong. What fruits and vegetables have are "carotenes" which are previtamin A. That means, it doesn't turn into vitamin A (retinol) until it is activated by enzymes in the digestive system, and also must be accompanied by adequate fats for this to occur, (butter on carrots for example) If a person has an impairment of this sort in the digestive system (IBS, surgery in the past or other various imperfections that prevent this from happening,) all bets are off. That person is not going to turn their beta carotene into vitamin A and they are at risk for becoming deficient. This site as well as most other news sources are in constant violation of this principle, and I say shame. The only true source of vitamin A are animal, cod liver oil, and liver sources are the highest, also eggs. Used to be milk did but since cows aren't allowed out on fresh green grass anymore (confined indoors) they are also deficient and their milk cannot be considered a rich source as it once was."

interesting right? think about what foods they are ruining.
1. milk. you cannot get "real milk" anymore. they put sting operations around anyone even trying to sell it. even the amish. it's crazy. STING operations about MILK. THINK about it. does that make ANY sense?? no, it really doesn't. it does not seem rational at all.

that is because they KNOW "real milk" is one of "god's great gifts" period. and they have gone out of their way to deprive us of it (they do not call something a land of milk and honey if it is heaven for no reason)

everyone thinks milk is for calcium. WRONG. go look it up.
amino acids for one. i won't delve further there. you can google that.

2. eggs. they says that eggs are worse than CIGARETTES. can you believe that? because i surely can't. google that. eggs worse than cigarettes. crazy.

3. who takes cod liver oil except for a bunch of people who go to whole foods? that is it. period.
and maybe the amish.

so....you see here...why is any of this important you ask?

let me tell you. vitamin A (on their site):

"Vitamin A is an essential vitamin required for vision, gene transcription, boosting immune function, and great skin"

pretty huge stuff.

plus:

"People with Long Term Problems Absorbing Fat - Problems absorbing fat in the long term can lead to diarrhea and vitamin A deficiency. This includes people with:
Celiac disease - Gluten Intolerance
Crohn's disease - Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Pancreatic disorders - The pancreas releases enzymes for proper digestion of fats"

ok what have we seen a huge increase of? GLUTEN INTOLERANCE.

what IF...gluten intolerance is not caused by "the wheat is different now and has been genetically altered" but simply was the fact that the AVERAGE american is becoming INCREASING deficient in vitamin A?

also at the bottom of the page:
"Warnings

Liver and whole milk are high cholesterol foods which should be eaten in moderate amounts and avoided by people at risk of heart disease or stroke."

so who is going to eat liver or milk after that endorsement?

(unless you just hate liver. i do. i hate liver. but i love liverwurst. go figure.)

so....

long story not short.

if you google "vitamin A conspiracy"

nothing.
there is nothing.

this could be because

1. there is no vitamin A conspiracy

or

2. there is a HUGE vitamin A conspiracy going on.

so which one is it?

i'll let my friends here at GLP hash this out in only the that GLP can.

i trust you to solve this dilemma

Almost got into an argument today with a friend over eggs. He had just discovered that I drink whole eggs. Raw. Daily.

Salmonella! Listeria! Those were his cries. I calmly told him that I had been drinking raw eggs since the age of six and a good thing at that, because, wouldn't you know it, as it turns out, cholesterol is not only good for you, but it is essential. It builds cells. Cells build you. The end.

just in case, you should check yourself for a biotin defiency, raw egg whites destroy biotin in your body:
[link to lpi.oregonstate.edu]

Although overt biotin deficiency is very rare, the human requirement for dietary biotin has been demonstrated in two different situations: prolonged intravenous feeding (parenteral) without biotin supplementation and consumption of raw egg white for a prolonged period (many weeks to years). Avidin is an antimicrobial protein found in egg white that binds biotin and prevents its absorption. Cooking egg white denatures avidin, rendering it susceptible to digestion and therefore unable to prevent the absorption of dietary biotin

Re: Vitamin A Conspiracy???
Vitamin A can be very toxic, hard to balance the form and dosage of it,but i guess ill start taking cod liver oil, this is a great thread :)
Toxicity

The condition caused by vitamin A toxicity is called hypervitaminosis A. It is caused by overconsumption of preformed vitamin A, not carotenoids. Preformed vitamin A is rapidly absorbed and slowly cleared from the body. Therefore, toxicity from preformed vitamin A may result acutely from high-dose exposure over a short period of time or chronically from a much lower intake (2). Acute vitamin A toxicity is relatively rare, and symptoms include nausea, headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, dizziness, dry skin, desquamation, and cerebral edema. Signs of chronic toxicity include dry itchy skin, desquamation, loss of appetite, headache, cerebral edema, and bone and joint pain. Also, symptoms of vitamin A toxicity in infants include bulging fontanels.Severe cases of hypervitaminosis A may result in liver damage, hemorrhage, and coma. Generally, signs of toxicity are associated with long-term consumption of vitamin A in excess of ten times the RDA (8,000 to 10,000 mcg/day or 25,000 to 33,000 IU/day). However, more research is necessary to determine if subclinical vitamin A toxicity is a concern in certain populations (37). There is evidence that some populations may be more susceptible to toxicity at lower doses, including the elderly, chronic alcohol users, and some people with a genetic predisposition to high cholesterol (8). In January 2001, the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) of the Institute of Medicine set the tolerable upper intake level (UL) of vitamin A intake for adults at 3,000 mcg (10,000 IU)/day of preformed vitamin A (21).

The low fat diet, the stupiest thing the Democrats ever decided was good for us.

[link to www.nytimes.com]

Over the past five years, however, there has been a subtle shift in the scientific consensus. It used to be that even considering the possibility of the alternative hypothesis, let alone researching it, was tantamount to quackery by association. Now a small but growing minority of establishment researchers have come to take seriously what the low-carb-diet doctors have been saying all along. Walter Willett, chairman of the department of nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health, may be the most visible proponent of testing this heretic hypothesis. Willett is the de facto spokesman of the longest-running, most comprehensive diet and health studies ever performed, which have already cost upward of $100 million and include data on nearly 300,000 individuals. Those data, says Willett, clearly contradict the low-fat-is-good-health message ''and the idea that all fat is bad for you; the exclusive focus on adverse effects of fat may have contributed to the obesity epidemic.''

most dairy cows don't pasture on grass anymore. In CA they use hay or alfalfa, which is just dried grass for milk cows. I don't know if they use corn feed anywhere for milk cows. Corn feed beef has a better marbling, hence better for steaks. We have a lot of pastured cows for beef in CA, though.

i did not write that. that was a comments to the article, the link i posted.

most cows now days are not fed their natural diet which is grass. they are now fed CORN which is NOT anything they are supposed to be eating. and sometimes, seriously google this, they are fed candy bars and candy that has expired or for whatever reason cannot be sold to the public. for real.

it's insane.

very few places offer whole milk from a grass fed cow.
and if you have a glass from grass cow it tastes TOTALLY different than what you normally get.

At 9 I went to live with my grandparents. My grandmother was this highly intelligent woman who learned everything she could in life. She was 18 when the Great Depression hit. Nutrition was a big concern with her. We ate liver once a week and 2 eggs each morning. I learned so much from her and everything she was doing back then has been proven to be the "right" natural thing to do. I have never broken a bone in life and the dentist told me the other day I had tremendously GREAT bone. He said it was rare to see today. I am 50 now.

Keep it in mind...

Animal form is actual vitamin A.

Plant form is not actual vitamin A but just a Beta Carotene that your body converts into actual Vitamin A when needed. I've looked into vitamin A in the past. Very confusing. Same for Vitamin D and C.
