Vitamin A solution-Spirulina.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33373657

spirulina is good, another good source is Red Palm Oil, been using this lately. Teaspoon a day and on my face. Great to cook with to.hf
 Quoting: Shustah

Again, plant sources only have carotenes which is NOT Vitamin A but compounds that can be converted into it by the body. The problem is that most people can't convert enough of it so they end up deficient in Vitamin A no matter how many carotenes they eat.

Re: Vitamin A Conspiracy???
i came across something i think on GLP can help me with.
i even googled "vitamin a conspiracy" but all i could find was the vitamin d and the vitamin c conspiracy.

my darlings, let me bring you VITAMIN A DOOM.
you know you have been waiting.

so here is a place google wants you to go right away if you google vitamin a.

[link to www.healthaliciousness.com]

it states that the foods highest in vitamin a are:

1. liver 2 . paprika 3. sweet potatoes 4. carrots 5. darly leafy green (kale) 6. butternut squash 7. parsley 8. dark colourful lettuce (not the kind you get on your burger) 9. dried apricots 10. cantaloupe

so none of these foods are strange to us. but how much does the AVERAGE american consume any of these foods on any sort of regular basis (remember back in the 60s/70s and even into the 80s somewhat you'd get a dash of paprika and a sprig of parsley with each meal? the paprika never had a taste and seemed only decorate, as well as the parsley. who eats that really? i mean a regular significant amount of fresh parsley? the AVERAGE american i am speaking of)

ok, so then HERE is a comment:

"Vitamin A Mislabled

I find consistently that "experts" wrongly claim vitamin A to be be present in fruits and vegetables. This is scientifically wrong, and technically wrong. What fruits and vegetables have are "carotenes" which are previtamin A. That means, it doesn't turn into vitamin A (retinol) until it is activated by enzymes in the digestive system, and also must be accompanied by adequate fats for this to occur, (butter on carrots for example) If a person has an impairment of this sort in the digestive system (IBS, surgery in the past or other various imperfections that prevent this from happening,) all bets are off. That person is not going to turn their beta carotene into vitamin A and they are at risk for becoming deficient. This site as well as most other news sources are in constant violation of this principle, and I say shame. The only true source of vitamin A are animal, cod liver oil, and liver sources are the highest, also eggs. Used to be milk did but since cows aren't allowed out on fresh green grass anymore (confined indoors) they are also deficient and their milk cannot be considered a rich source as it once was."

interesting right? think about what foods they are ruining.
1. milk. you cannot get "real milk" anymore. they put sting operations around anyone even trying to sell it. even the amish. it's crazy. STING operations about MILK. THINK about it. does that make ANY sense?? no, it really doesn't. it does not seem rational at all.

that is because they KNOW "real milk" is one of "god's great gifts" period. and they have gone out of their way to deprive us of it (they do not call something a land of milk and honey if it is heaven for no reason)

everyone thinks milk is for calcium. WRONG. go look it up.
amino acids for one. i won't delve further there. you can google that.

2. eggs. they says that eggs are worse than CIGARETTES. can you believe that? because i surely can't. google that. eggs worse than cigarettes. crazy.

3. who takes cod liver oil except for a bunch of people who go to whole foods? that is it. period.
and maybe the amish.

so....you see here...why is any of this important you ask?

let me tell you. vitamin A (on their site):

"Vitamin A is an essential vitamin required for vision, gene transcription, boosting immune function, and great skin"

pretty huge stuff.

plus:

"People with Long Term Problems Absorbing Fat - Problems absorbing fat in the long term can lead to diarrhea and vitamin A deficiency. This includes people with:
Celiac disease - Gluten Intolerance
Crohn's disease - Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Pancreatic disorders - The pancreas releases enzymes for proper digestion of fats"

ok what have we seen a huge increase of? GLUTEN INTOLERANCE.

what IF...gluten intolerance is not caused by "the wheat is different now and has been genetically altered" but simply was the fact that the AVERAGE american is becoming INCREASING deficient in vitamin A?

also at the bottom of the page:
"Warnings

Liver and whole milk are high cholesterol foods which should be eaten in moderate amounts and avoided by people at risk of heart disease or stroke."

so who is going to eat liver or milk after that endorsement?

(unless you just hate liver. i do. i hate liver. but i love liverwurst. go figure.)

so....

long story not short.

if you google "vitamin A conspiracy"

nothing.
there is nothing.

this could be because

1. there is no vitamin A conspiracy

or

2. there is a HUGE vitamin A conspiracy going on.

so which one is it?

i'll let my friends here at GLP hash this out in only the that GLP can.

i trust you to solve this dilemma

According to emedicine.com, which is an authoritative medical website that physicians use, the incidence rate of vitamin A toxicity is extremely rare. They mentioned in the footnotes three cases of children in 2011. Only someone being very foolish would get toxicity.

I don't think there's a conspiracy. All of what you said is true; excpet most people, espeically public relations scientists are exceedingly stupid.

There is the whole 'vitamin-a' craze because a few people got sick with megadoses of A. I don't know what's up with the thing against eggs, except that it's because people are overly paranoid about dietary cholesterol.

Beta-Carotene is fine for most people, except most people don't even get enough of that.

--- oh and a lot of poeple take cod-liver oil for inflammation and joints.

Your point is well taken though that we should all eat more vitamin A foods, or supplement (carefully)

Good thread, OP, and appreciate the logical thinking involved. You are right that Google filters results to give the public what they want the public to know, not just straight facts.

For example, many people insist baking soda is abrasive to teeth and should not be used. The average person googling it will see that, over and over, and conclude, ok, I'm not using baking soda to brush my teeth. But if you look further, and google 'Relative Dental Abrasiveness' (RDA), you will find the dental chart that rates B.S. at 7. The only thing lower is water. The most abrasive toothpastes are 200. The next most abrasive toothpaste, above B.S., is 135! B.S. is less abrasive than any toothpaste out there. So...it is not true that B.S. scrapes enamal from your teeth due to abrasiveness, but Google results will show hundreds of people/blogs, etc. saying it is.

Don't trust Google results without during further thinking and research. Never take it at face value.

Salmonella! Listeria! Those were his cries. I calmly told him that I had been drinking raw eggs since the age of six and a good thing at that, because, wouldn't you know it, as it turns out, cholesterol is not only good for you, but it is essential. It builds cells. Cells build you. The end.

Here's some interesting tidbits about taking vitamin A supplements:

Vitamin A can interfere with the efficacy of Vitamin D when taken in the high doses found in supplements.

Link: [link to www.vitamindcouncil.org]

"Additionally new research has shown that vitamin D protects against cancer. But a paradox was found as those with higher vitamin D levels did not seem to have this benefit. A bright Harvard researcher carefully analyzed the data in the study that showed this and found that when he removed the people with high vitamin A and vitamin D levels, those with normal vitamin A levels and high vitamin D levels continued to have reduced risk of colon cancer. So those that did not take vitamin A had the protective effect from higher levels of vitamin D. "

From [link to www.epa.gov]

"Beef cattle production ranges from the beef cow herd that typically graze on pastureland or graze the remaining residue on the land after grain harvest to growing and finishing young cattle in feedlots. The feedlot-housing systems used in beef cattle production typically varies by climate and can range from open earthen lots with very little shelter to open shed and lot or an enclosed confinement building. Manure handling and storage ranges from solid manure with bedding included, and runoff water from open lots to liquid slurry and treatment lagoon systems. Due to the increasing size of beef operations, the large volume of manure production, collection, storage and application to the land has presented challenges."

Over the past five years, however, there has been a subtle shift in the scientific consensus. It used to be that even considering the possibility of the alternative hypothesis, let alone researching it, was tantamount to quackery by association. We have a winner here!

The Calcium Bomb
by Douglas Mulhall & Katja Hansen

This was one amazing book. This book talks about the most amazing biological discovery in the past 100 years: nanobacteria.

And every time someone proved their existence, they were attacked by the rest of the scientific community: "they’re too small to be bacteria; they don’t multiply like bacteria; they don’t have enough room inside to contain enough DNA to be called bacteria."

An amazing book about an amazing process in discovery.

And what do these nanobacteria do? They grow, and die, and leave behind little calcium skeletons (not really skeletons, but I can’t think of a single metaphor that works better).

Makes sense, but going by God's purity law on animals to eat you're not supposed to eat animal organs. That means liver.

The low fat diet, the stupiest thing the Democrats ever decided was good for us.

Over the past five years, however, there has been a subtle shift in the scientific consensus. It used to be that even considering the possibility of the alternative hypothesis, let alone researching it, was tantamount to quackery by association. Now a small but growing minority of establishment researchers have come to take seriously what the low-carb-diet doctors have been saying all along. Walter Willett, chairman of the department of nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health, may be the most visible proponent of testing this heretic hypothesis. Willett is the de facto spokesman of the longest-running, most comprehensive diet and health studies ever performed, which have already cost upward of $100 million and include data on nearly 300,000 individuals. Those data, says Willett, clearly contradict the low-fat-is-good-health message ''and the idea that all fat is bad for you; the exclusive focus on adverse effects of fat may have contributed to the obesity epidemic.''

Ohh I second you on that one. People have NO idea how important GOOD fats are for our body and brain health!

They leave calcium deposits in our arteries and organs, which can lead to heart disease and cancer. Odds are, you can have them, and NEVER know it.

.

The "calcium" problem is not hopeless, fresh lemon juice in water, Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar, (2 tablespoons in a glass of water), you can work on dissolving them--they have been described as microscopic things like snails with shells, hard calcium shells, leaving a coral like substance behind.

I believe I've seen some photos, I'll take a look.

The Calcium Bomb: The Nanobacteria Link to Heart Disease & Cancer [Hardcover]

"If you have heart disease, arthritis or cancer, you have probably got calcification - one of the most widespread harmful conditions in existence, and found with diseases like osteoporosis and Alzheimers.

Doctors have long known that something in our body misuses calcium to make us sick; they just haven't known why, or how to treat it. Until now. If you have never heard of calcification or don't know what it does, you will find crucial answers in this book, including medical science's recent discovery of a particle - a nanobacterium so small it challenges the very definition of life - that makes otherwise good calcium go bad, and which has also been discovered in other incurable diseases.

Until recently, scientists didn't know that it existed or what it did. But, now they are beginning to understand what it is ...and how to treat it. If you are young and healthy, your own Calcium Bomb may already be ticking.

The Good News: Many patients are improving with new treatment aimed at heart disease calcification. Will it work for arthritis, injuries, and some cancers where the time bomb also lurks? In easy-to-understand terms, this book explores the hotly contested evidence."

Makes sense to me, I will have to read up on this more. I do believe we are bombarded by calcium at higher than necessary doses. It is pushed everywhere in the media. Calcium DOES help with bone growth and is important for many processes in the body, but what happens to the excess calcium...it gets stored for when we might be depleted of it, the depletion never happens and these nanobacteria start to feed off of it ?? Not sure, but I will definitely look further into this :)
