Chefs, maids and gardeners aren't jobs?

Man I wish i was rich..

Gardener can pick the apple, and give it to the maid, who gives it to the chef, who bakes me a fresh apple pie on demmand.

He's right. Businesses don't hire more people unless they Have to, and that would be caused by more demand for the product.

Yep, politicians only vote that way for 3 reasons.

1. Most are in the top income brackets and want to keep their money.

2. Rich donors to their campaign dont want them to raise their taxes.

3. They are too stupid to realize the truth about supply and DEMAND.

Interesting talk. However, it's not entirely true. If it were true, then why France, for example, with it's high income tax for the rich still has an unemployment rate of 10.5 percent?

Also, just because I disagree with his opinion, does not mean I believe the opposite. The problem is much more complex than that.

Poor people don't start businesses and therefore don't hire workers, but they do spend their money at the store...so what happens when you force them to buy insurance they can't afford? Well, they have no money to spend and the businesses go under...Obamacare

Do you really think Brief knows shit about economics. Really? Seriously? Brief of all people? I doubt he ever took one economics class. And somehow, I doubt his job is in banking/business/economics.

What happens when the poor person has cancer, and now has 100K in hospital bills (because they had no insurance), now they really cant afford to do anything. And will probably die too.

Of course there are no free lunches, most people would gladly work if there salaries could match welfare(and avoiding all the costs incurred working as a low wage worker, it simply doesn't work these days). But due to unbridled greed by the private sector and legions of assholes who repeat their mantras and memes, we have a world were the private sector continually underperforms the public sector when it comes to growing local jobs while those legions of assholes hound the government to fix what the private sector is supposedly better at, this is all due to the rewards of offshoring and outsourcing designed specifically by the private sectors influence on globalization efforts and the fact that the same legions of idiots never once look at the private sector for anything they are supposedly "expert" in.

It's the wealthy govt servants, who steal from the working public in the name of the 'poor' and then keep the majoprity for themselves to further enrich themselves while doling out pittances to the poor but paying themselves like kings.

It's so obvious, there are no poor public servants, they pay themselves lavishly and take from all while indebting the public permanently.
Destroying one to provide meager fair for another is not charity and it doesnt do anything other than render all but the managers into poverty and slavery to the management

The issue to which it points, is that you have to redistribute income to keep the Capitalist system going, otherwise it is going to end badly.

If too many people are dependent on the government, it is partly because Capitalism fails to provide a good income for a large number of people. There are other issues too, so this not the only cause.

The best system would be a market based system that creates a maximum number of reasonable paying jobs without (or with little) government intervention. If the government must provide for jobs or incomes, then it is going to end badly too.

That guy gave a good speech,OP.

But I have one huge problem with his speech.

How will taxing the rich increase job growth?

The government directly receives tax money....not the middle class.

Increased taxes will only empower the government.

DC has the highest annual salaries in US.
see here [link to www.bloomberg.com]

and here [link to money.cnn.com]

What Americans need to come to terms with is that THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT REPRESENT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

The offshoring of our jobs for the last 30-40 years have had the blessing of Congress.

The same could be said about the wealth gap between the CEOs and the working class.

The American people must hold Congress accountable for their poor policies.

Congressmen must realize that they serve the American people not lobbies or campaign donors.

That is our issue ^^^...not taxes

Yes the difficulty is the flaw of relying on other humans(in government) and hoping they have your best interests at heart. The problem in the U.S is that might work, but the parties are bought and paid for by corporations, and the corporate lobbyist industry is totally out of control. This isn't a perfect way of doing things, but taking out the 'for profit/bottom line' mentality, which is part of the idea of using government to inspire private sector growth is a line of thought based on the paradigm we currently live with.

Yes. I have foresworn "programing" for many years now, it is fascinating to see how mass media culture permeates peoples minds in such a way, that the person thinks the programing is their own creation.

A free-thinker is ridiculed because independent free-thought does not align with the mass-media manufactured pop-cultural bullshit.
