Wind happens when air rushes towards a low pressure area in the atmosphere and is affected by the earths rotation.

So that might be what's happening.

My comment was regarding how it came out of no where and the force of it. Yesterday it was 16 C degrees here... today ice, snow and crazy wind.

You definitely have it way worse.

There were major wind storms across the Midwest last night. I don't think it's anything to be alarmed about, however, it probably shook loose a lot of dead wood from trees. As such, it would be wisdom to look around your property and pile it up at least. Hopefully you can use some of it to make things or to burn in your woodstoves.

Come to Central Texas...crazy winds all the time!

I've had gale force winds, Rain, Hail and now the friggin Sun is out....all in the last hour..

The worse thing about the freezing rain is how it freezes up your car windows... Then when you try to go through a drive through to order your morning coffee you can't get the damn window down!! Grrr!!

This is why I love living in Florida. It's nice and warm today with a cool breeze.

It was a good day for learning defensive driving, dodging the flying boxes and garbage flying around the roads. I am sure most people thought I was just another crazy mama in a mini van not paying attention to where she was driving!

Think of it as a kettle letting out steam, the reason you get the whistle and steam moving fast happens when hot air meets cold air.

That why it is so windy, cold front pushing the hot air out.

Ohio here, the wind had a hell of a howl to it last night, haven't heard wind sound like that in a long time, it's usually just wind, not the howl. Sounded like a PW Turbofan at idle outside of my window all night lol.

That is the major problem with any large city. There is no where to put the snow when you accumulate so much. It happened in Toronto, Ontario a while back. They actually called in the army!

Somebody knows their gas generators. Nice.
