Strategy Games

no one?

anytime someone sees me playing one of those they say "that looks really boring"

I used to play C&C games. I stopped playing at the time of Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour.

This Generals 2 that isnt released yet seems cool. But im not gonna play it.

Used to play warlords battlecry with a bunch of friends lan party style, that was forever ago.

i like the ones i mentioned because of the diplomacy and dynasty aspects of them.

i am playing civilization 4 beyond the sword right now.

how do you like it?

Try Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri and Heroes of Might and Magic III if you like turn based strategy games

i love it, it has a lot of variety and i am using the world builder to create my own scenarios.

i'll check it out. i 've played Sid Meirs' Pirates, very fun and simple game.

Paradox games are the shit. Some tends to be overly complex (Hearts of Iron 3), but I really love the Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis series.

These are the closest to "true" strategy games IMHO, almost a boardgame feeling. Otherwise I like all kind of RTS (Dawn of War 1&2, SupCom, Total War, Starcraft, Company of Heroes, etc), but you never get the epic feeling of leading a nation to glory like you can find in Paradox games.

I'm really into the Total War series of games.

Dragon Age ... Baldurs Gate....

4x games are also good in a "master of orion" way: Sins of a solar Empire & Endless Space are pretty cool.

Imperialism is an awesome turn based strategy game, imperialism 2 is ok but never liked it as much as the first.

i've bought shogun 2 but cant get into it like i did the others.

i guess it is because i like the medival and roman time frames.

love that game but i havent played the other.

isnt there a Sins 2 coming out?

I loved Panzer General for the PS2.

Wishing they would add a new Civilization for thr 360. Played out the last copy.

Played shitloads of Age of Empires series.

Nothing beats chess.

most of these games are like a more complicated version of chess

That's what makes them epic to me :D So much more satisfaction than a quick scenario.
