Everyone's been saying for a week that Chicago was gonna get destroyed and we didn't get shit. Little bit of rain. Epic failure on the weather doom. I want to see bodies flying past my window and hanging in trees.

The lower the pressure; the stronger the storm. 940 millibars is lowest recorded pressure ever recorded for an Atlantic Storm when Sandy hit us. OK....940 millibars is BAD. Watch this one.

I am in the Sandy effected area. There is no talk of this at all. Do you have access to the European Models???? It is Thursday and people need time to get ready; drag out the generators, stock up supplies. We had the jet stream coming down our throats today. I swear, I hate the sound of wind, these days.

OP....I think it was you who gave the heads-up here on Sandy. I want to thank you for that. I looked at those charts and I knew there was no place for that storm to come but right on top of us. It was the Tuesday before the storm. By Friday before Sandy, I was prepared fully and even got a generator. Yes, we had damage but we weathered the aftermath just fine. Thank you.

Sandy survivor here. We're in bad shape sine Fire Island is now flat as a pancake. On Dec 21st, the ocean washed over and flooded my yard to Irene level. If we get a strong nor'easter, we could lose our boiler again. We will have to surrender and move away. Any ideas on storm sure potential?
This info is important. I need to spend this weekend raisng the floor in the step down basement, jacking up the boiler, and raise up the washer/dryer. Trying to put this off, but we won't survive a strong surge right now.
Thanks for the heads up.

lol, this a small weak clipper that doesn't redevelop until it's well offshore, eastern New England has the potential for 4-8 inch storm possible more if its further west.... looking at 1-3 in the northern mid Atlantic

no one should worry about this storm, unless you're in nova scotia

It was Luisport who gave the initial heads-up on Sandy. I'm paying close attention to this one. Thanks to Luisport, I was well prepared for Sandy. Had cash, full gas tanks in the cars, inverter and battery, food stocks, etc.,.

There is talk of it now on the radio - snow starting Sunday night and another hit on Tuesday.

About 4,000 people without power due to the heavy winds Wed. night.

Was looking for this thread this morning - waiting for another update from Luisport.

Seriously LP - you should be GLP's official meteorologist.
