Jupiter's moon Io will start to transit the planet by about 8pm. The great red spot will also be visible. Later in the evening at about 9:10pm Io's shadow will start to transit across Jupiter as well. It should make for a very pretty sight. |

I'll be watching tonight with Jupiter. Thanks! Edit: spelling Last Edited by ..11:11.. on 01/31/2013 04:06 PM Spirituality is the opposite of religion, religion is a substitute for spirituality. I thought you had a big scope like Trinity's. I'll be watching tonight with Jupiter. Thanks! Edit: spelling Size of the scope doesn't matter for Sirius when it's properly exposed; it's just a point-like light source (it's far too small to resolve regardless of whether you have a giant telescope like the GLP main scope or a moderately sized scope like mine). I can over-expose it too, it just shows the optical reflections that happen with my scope when a point-like light source is over-exposed. The reflections are meaningless, they're specific to the optical train being used and have nothing to do with the star itself or anything in space. Last Edited by Astromut on 01/31/2013 04:12 PM |

The second is just a blinding over-exposure filled with optical reflections from inside the telescope. |

It is precisely because it is fashionable for Americans to know no science, even though they may be well educated otherwise, that they so easily fall prey to nonsense. They thus become part of the armies of the night, the purveyors of nitwittery, the retailers of intellectual junk food, the feeders on mental cardboard, for their ignorance keeps them from distinguishing nectar from sewage. — Isaac Asimov |

I stopped that and the video should be back up now, you may have to refresh. The video has went out 3 or 4 times. Might also be my shitty satellite internet. Are you still talking? I can't hear you.
