Back in my twenties I was messing up alot. Woke up one morning after a night of partying and my car wasn't there. I called the police to report it stolen and they informed me that it had been repossessed - UGH. Horrible feeling.

The commercialism of Xmas and overextending on presents needs to just go away. I work with special needs and at-risk kids. A good portion of them are extremely ADHD and their parents are all poor. These parents skipped purchasing their kids' meds in order to buy Xmas presents and now the kids are all having major issues at school - failing and getting into trouble.

I don't see how buying presents you cannot afford and probably don't need is worth screwing up lives.

Get an older car and pay cash for it. Nobody wants to steal it, no payments, no collision insurance, and not making the banks richer.

Supposedly you can ask to be informed of and even participate in the resale. They will take that car to an auction and it will be sold well below what you could get for it on the street. Whatever they get for it will go towards what you owe, and whatever the difference is the bank will come back to you for.

It happens, get over it.....but they will come after what you owe after they liquidate it. Been there done that years ago, you may have to file chapter 7. Get a cheap car for cash, you can buy a decent car off craigslist for around 2k or a little less if you look hard.

Oh, and never get back into vehicle payments again...we own all of ours and toys free and clear, if you can't pay cash you don't buy it.

I had a car repo'd once. I called up the bank and said come get it. They said no, you don't wanna do that and I said ya I do, come get it cause I can't pay on it. I told em I will give em the keys and title just come and get it.

Then one warm summer night they snuck over in the dead of night real sneeky like and jacked the fucking car from my drive way. After I told the bozoz I would give em the title and keys. What fucking idiots.

I filed bankruptcy soon after.

Oh and this, A finance company sent me a check for 2500 bucks and I cashed it. I had no income and no way to pay it back and because I needed money, I used 500 bucks and when they realized what the fuck happened, they said give us 2000 and we call it even, so I did and that was that.

I had a vehicle repoed in late 2010, it went to auction, was worth around 16,000 sold for about 16,500.. it was babied, and a rare sports car so I lucked out. Didn't owe any extra, even though that's several years of the worst credit imaginable.. don't expect to get a loan or anything in a long time. Best to avoid this type of thing. You live and you learn. Debt isn't the end of the world, as long. as you don't let it be.. just work hard and get a better on soon.
