Anonymous Coward User ID: 31974010 United States 01/31/2013 10:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Everyones been looking at Fukashima as the source of high radiation all over the world. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31974010 The real source is from space. I am aware of space-bound radiation, but that would not cause a single monitor to rapidly spike when no others are. In this instance theres a good chance it is from Fukushima considering how close it is to hawaii. |

People love the exchange of Information, at least normally! Regards Tokyo 0.110 Microsievert at the Ground Unfortunately, the ground reading for Tokyo is utterly irrelevant. The fallout is blowing east. Only reason the US mil decided against total evacuation of Tokyo. It's also heading east via water pollution. I have no reason to declare this radiation spike a product of Fukushima, but I have less than no reason to discount it. That is the very first rad monitor any incoming fallout would pass. |

Waterbug User ID: 1295673 United States 02/01/2013 12:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 10 million becquerels per hour current emissions from Fuku. Probably more than that because that number comes from Tepco... and they are some lying m-f-ckers. No reason to doubt that it's from Japan. Hawai is downwind... So is the mainland. I'd have to see someone prove another source of the radiation to believe otherwise. Just happens to be an ongoing triple nuclear reactor meltdown in Japan. |

Just happens to be an ongoing triple nuclear reactor meltdown in Japan. I'm inclined to agree. The only reason I'm not so sure is the location. Volcano activity has just skyrocketed, and I wouldn't be surprised by a big gas release. But the other Hawaii monitor hasn't risen. I'm keeping an eye on the whole west coast to see if this is something local or not. If it is another present from our good friends at TEPCO, other radnets along the way should start lighting up too. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 33417351 Canada 02/01/2013 12:43 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | pacific missile range on the west side may have something to do with the radiation. i live on kauai. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11314737 Good to hear from a resident! Got anything else that could be a source in the area? They could be prepping missiles right there, which wouldn't surprise me with current N.Korea tensions, but would that cause so much radiation to be released? Hitting alert level on and off for at least the seven hours I've been monitoring it. |

There is a reason it's called fallout. Rain localizes it. Could be. The other rad monitor on mainland Hawaii is starting to creep up a bit now too. If that one rises significantly now too, I'd say we have proof of another moving wave of fallout from Japan. |

Hilo had one of the highest monitor readings that I observed during the worst of the emissions in March 2011. Others were Phoenix, Eugene, Eureka, Tucson and a few more I'd have to look up. |
