Heartbroken & angry
What the hell kind of a system is this? What kind of sick fucking culture are we that we let this shit happen. Something has to be done

My nephew has a complicated life, with a mom on drugs and being taken care of by his grandparents, at birth he was already shorted. Then his wacko mom steals him away, decides to break the law while with him (stealing) and instead of the cops calling his grandparents....who literally live within an ear shot, they throw him into DHS custody, into a foster home and refuse to give him over or give any info what so ever.

He then spent a week god knows where as we all frantically try to get him back.

Guys, I can barely finish this because we got him back...and something awful happened to him. In the course of a week a healthy vibrant little boy changed into a lethargic, sick and weak child. He came home with pink eye, a serious ear infection, vomiting, and completely unresponsive. When they picked him up he was eating truck stop food.

I'm sick to my stomach thinking about what might have happened to him
. & I can't believe that we have zero rights in the matter.

I'm heartbroken, & so angry.

OP get him to a doctor asap if you haven't already. Hopefully the grandparents have a good trusted physician who will examine him thoroughly with a mind toward what he has been through.

I'm so sorry you're family is going through this.

Oh shit. Poor baby.

He may just be sick. That and the trauma of being moved away from his grandparents and then back may be why he's so unresponsive.

He may just need medication for his illness and time to get better and readjust.

Re: Heartbroken & angry
I understand your anger and your fears.

Please hold it together for little one and get him what he needs.

The system is broken beyond repair. I'm afraid there's not much you can do about it without boatloads of money and even then....

Just take care of the baby for now.

My prayers are with you all.

It is a horrible system and I am so sorry that happened to your precious little guy.

The good news is that babies are resiliant. With all of your love and care, he'll be OK. hf

So sorry to hear this. You are very lucky you were able to get him back. The foster care system is very dangerous for kids as there are elements that will exploit them in every imaginable way. The risk to this little one is he has a mother who needs to be removed from his life permanently. How was she able to steal him? Whatever was going on that enabled her to access him, that door needs to be slammed shut hard and permanently. No matter how much the grandparents love her or whatever. This little one is vulnerable and 100% dependent on responsible adults making smart decisions for him.

Minimally, she should be permanently banned from being anywhere around him. If not already done, permanent and legal custody must be established by whoever is raising him. She is a lethal menace to him. Me personally, this sort of thing just enrages me and I would be sorely tempted to suicide the bitch or otherwise make sure she disappears for good to make sure she can never subject the child to anything like this again. But that's just me.
