Bible Says Current Civilization Will Last 6000 Years

i dont know how anyone couldnt believe that at least some parts are tainted. i mean we are talking about a book a couple of thousand years old that has been tranlated many times, copied by hand (many times), and for a very long some wasnt available to the general public.

somewhere a mistake was made. impossible for it not to.

Jesus came to tell the good news that man has grown into a THINKING BEING. That GOD the FATHER WAS NOW WITHIN HIS MIND. Thinking requires discrimination of material. Christ does not save anyone. You are saved into eternal life by your own ability to CHOOSE IT. And you are eternal anyway, unless YOU REJECT YOUR ETERNAL LIFE. JESUS taught that man must understand God by understanding Nature and those that would not think that far, and look around and understand would remain forever fools. Or at least until they did. YOUR ETERNAL LIFE AND YOUR SPIRITUAL PROGRESS IS IN YOUR HANDS and not anyone else's.

My problem with this whole "The Earth is 6000 years old" stuff and the belief in the tribulation, rapture, etc. is that it leads people into complacency.

If the "End" is still several years (or even 200 years) off, and Jesus is going to come and save the believers and fix everything, there is no need to take any responsibility for the state that our world is in, right? We can just sit back and let Jesus do everything.

It reminds me of the whole "saved" thing. It doesn't seem to matter how much of a sinner you are, but if you just accept Jesus as your lord and savior, everything's A-OK.

Well, I do believe in Jesus, but I also believe in science and using the reasoning faculties that God gave us. I believe in taking care of Mother Earth and all it's creatures and habitats, not just expecting Jesus to fix everything.

Also, I don't believe we have several years. Many, many signs point to 2013 or 2014 being very memorable, shall we say. My higher self has confirmed this.

But if you think that you don't need to do anything to prepare because Jesus is going to save you because that's what your preacher told you, well, I feel sorry for you. :(

What part of --- "You just need a little faith" --- did you not understand?

When all else fails you can just prove the Qur'an is the true word of 'God' by quoting the Qur'an.... All it takes is a little 'faith' right???...

How about a rational understanding of the verses? Then 'faith' can take a back-seat and once you know what the picture is supposed to look like, wait and live as best you can in a flawed world. Wars and rumors of wars to not need the headline more than 1 day a year and time could be better spent if it is there more than that. Death is the enemy of mankind rather than some guy over the horizon.

Great advice - so when you apply a 'rational understanding' of the verses from ALL religious texts from around the world and throughout the history of mankind (and not just the text of your selective choosing), you can then perceive common themes and observe reoccuring patterns that enable you to arrive at higher level of awareness of the larger nature of our 'reality' and our existence.

the bible is filled with alot of disinformation. A book rewritten by man 20 something times, is just interpretation. Like all religion, its contradicting. The Bible also says God didnt create dinosaurs.

LisaLisa, you used the word CURRENT in reference to Civilisation.

It is quite possible this is accurate.

There were prior civilisations according to archaeological excavations & documentations. They failed, were abandoned, something devastating happened to cause total collapse...we just don't know for certain.

The Lord God may have had to create Earth from the void left by these prior destructive races. Perhaps that is why, in the Bible & other books, The Lord God is said to be "a jealous god, and to have no other gods". The Lord God created a new race, Humans, to be caretakers & stewards of the Earth created 6,000 years ago.

Just musing here, as I've been intrigued by this thread today.

But Lisa, most of us AREN'T reading it. We come in, 1 star, leave hateful remarks about your religious choices and the fact that what you're posting is irreverent to the majority here, and then leave. I'm guilty of it. All I have to see is "Bible says" or "Jesus told me" or anything along those lines, and I immediately just write it off as "worthless text". I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just being honest with you.

I'm not interested in arguing, and I usually don't post in these types of threads. But I thought I would address this.

I look to the Christ light for guidance, and my higher self, and the Creator. My higher self is my connection to God and I connect through my heart. When I am connected I fill up with powerful love energy and I simply "know" what it is I need to know. It is incredibly powerful.

To connect this way, I have to open my heart and feel love and compassion first. It is impossible for dark ones to feel love this way, btw. So don't try to tell me that I am being misled. :)

And I am not denying the Lord, as you say, but I just see things differently than you do.

I also don't gloat or lord it over those why do deny a higher power. God loves everyone...God IS love, so who am I to condemn anyone?

I had a life-changing experience during meditation once where I found myself with God, looking through his eyes down at the earth. Everyone I knew appeared at my/our feet as beautiful stars. Everyone, even people I didn't like. That is how God see us. :)

Oh, btw, my higher self says that the earth changes will be mostly over by August of 2014. Just thought I would throw that in there...

We all need to get ready, spiritually and physically. But the spiritual preparation is more important (getting in touch with your higher self for example).

Just my 2 cents.

There are archaeological sites that date back much longer than that. People forget how much the bible has been tampered with.
