| DoorBert (OP) User ID: 857877 02/01/2013 04:18 PM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The next American wealth boom has officially begun. It may not feel like it for many Americans. But with the Dow breaching 14,000, shareholders and investors have recovered the more than $8 trillion in wealth lost during the recession and attained levels of paper wealth they haven't seen since the Roaring Oughts. The stock market has gone from wealth destroyer to the nation's largest manufacturer of new millionaires and billionaires. The market moves are creating a new virtuous cycle of confidence for the wealthy. A new survey from Spectrem Group shows that millionaire confidence in the economy hit the highest level in two years, led by their bullishness on the economy and corporate earnings. Backing your currency with something of value is a regulation that tells people this paper note is worth this much. That paper note is meant to be an IOU with back equity in a safe storage, known as a bank. The IOU is there to easily transfer this value between two parties. If the dollar was not backed by any value, then the IOU posses no value. It only posses the value that the Fed gives it with the amount of currency supplied in the system. That means it is an unregulated currency. Backing paper currency with metal or material, is a way to regulate a currency. Especially when you are dealing with other countries and currency exchange rates. It is better to regulate your currency then not. Metals or materials are the easiest way to back a currency. Why? You can mold them into any shape or size you need and they posses great value. Gold posses the greatest value, which is why it is recommened to have a central bank to back the currency with gold. Central Banks are overrated though, because they are a monopoly on currency. Give it some competition and give the people the chance to choose their IOU provider. If their IOU provider is not backing the currency with material... well he is just going to lose business. China for instance, is about to back it's currency with gold. It would quite literally destroy the American economy, because the paper currency is back by nothing. See your flaw here? Last Edited by Dr. Manhattan on 02/01/2013 08:14 PM PackThatFudge |
