Amerika had a free ride when the Dollar was backed by all the oil yet to be pumped out of the ground.

Amerika not only lived beyond it's means people really believed it would go on for ever even when all the indicators were heading off the scale.

Life is tough when the playing fields are level. Amerika has a long way (still) to fall. The rich and powerful are not going to let go their positions they will hold onto until the edifice collapses.
