Disturbing Trend - UPDATED - with experts warnings -NSA and your SECURITY CAMERAS
Now put this into perspective know what the NSA has been doing with the data mining. They have access to your security cameras.

I have noticed a disturbing trend while looking to replace a few surveillance cameras at the house.

Most of the DIY cameras have always been able to view the video remotely, record, record on motion detection, email notification, upload video/pics to your FTP server, etc.

Now the majority of the cameras will still do this, but only after the video is uploaded to the "cloud." That is, to get to any additional features, other than simply viewing, the video must be sent, via the internet, to a web storage facility (the cloud) that you do not control. This might not seem like a big deal, but i bet in the TOS or user agreement there is something that allows others (you know who i mean - think alphabet) access to your video. Still might not seem that bad until you realize what they can scan off your video including facial recognition.

Instead of gov putting cameras on every street corner (and the public debate/uproar) they can now just scan users own video (all connected with the IP address that it was uploaded from...so they have the location). Any doubts what that little new building that was built in Utah for?

So they can determine your "emotional state" for advertising, what else do you think that will be used for?

Add the fact that FB just brought back facial recognition.

so now they can scan the video, know the real-time location and now can put a name with the person (they have the entire FB user database to use to match faces with names).

So in real-time:
1) know the persons name
2) date and time
3) location

Dont think they are tracking people in real-time yet?

Have one, Geovision System. As i said, i noticed this while looking at replacement cameras.

Look at the newer DVR systems that are coming out, advanced features are not enabled. will have to pay the monthly fee.

here's a good one. cameras are direct wired, no wireless. network connection is also wired, no wireless. remote access is direct.
[link to www.harborfreight.com]

read the net setup in the manual available for download, works with phones, or computers remotely and direct to the dvr. It's also infrared, so yes, night vision.

Yeah, appreciate the link.

Fortunately, most on here will know what to do. The majority of the other people will not know and just install the "cloud cameras."

then when you walk/drive by their camera (which you dont know is on their house) you and everyone else is now on the cloud.

Basically, they get others to install these "cloud cameras" and require the video to be sent to the cloud. From there is where the access the video. Much cheaper for them and they dont have to fight with the public about installing cameras.

Then there is the "Cloud Router."

"D-Link's Cloud Routers also provide the added benefit of remote network management and remote file access via mydlink Cloud Services."

"With mydlink Cloud Services you can:

1)See what devices are connecting to your network
2)View web browsing history in real time
3)Block unwanted device connections
4)Set up automatic e-mail alerts"

[link to www.dlink.com]

Seriously, why would anyone want their router to upload to a cloud.

Just one big data grab!! how much data does that new Utah building hold?

Experts warn on wire-tapping of the cloud:

"In a report, he highlights how the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act Amendment Act (FISAAA) allows US authorities to spy on cloud data."

"He told the BBC this heralded a new era of "cloud surveillance"."

"In it he said that FISAAA "expressly permits purely political surveillance", so that anyone with stored information relating to US foreign policy could find themselves of interest to the US authorities.

"Anyone who, for example, belongs to a campaign group which may oppose some aspect of US foreign policy, whether it be the Iraq war or climate change," he said."

""When FISAAA was extended to cover cloud computing, encrypting data to and from the cloud becomes irrelevant so it is surprising that nobody noticed this," he added."

"data in real-time with any material of possible interest being instantly copied to the NSA ...court order is made in secret and remains secret - meaning it would not show up in things such as Google's transparency reports"

"It allows the authorities to enact surveillance on a mass scale because it is wired into the infrastructure,"

for the money it is good. picture is pretty clear and does what it says it does. The network connection can be a little difficult to set up, but at least it's not uploaded to a cloud server and doesn't transmit data 24/7. Works when accessed with username/password and direct link to your machine. You can always just unplug the network cable when you are at home if you are worried about it being tapped into.
