For the record, since some of you so called experts lack any historical and technical background:

This is the YF-16, tiny nose relatively small intake
[link to i1189.photobucket.com]

Early f-16 cockpit (YF-16)

[link to i1189.photobucket.com]

 Quoting: IMAX

One of the most important features to any new fighter is extra room; they need to be able to upgrade equipment in to existing spaces. The F-22 has a 30% growth capability built in to it.

The F-16 was acutely designed without growth capability on purpose. It had only 2 SQ feet of empty room. The YF-16 itself was designed not to carry any radar guided missiles at all; So no radar in the nose cone on the YF. The YF-16 and the F-16 are very different. F-16 ended up almost a foot longer and the nose was changed out to fit a radar system, the F-16 weighed in at 25% heavier than the YF-16 with the F-16 They integrated the very limited Doppler radar system to work with the HUD for visual combat mode. She has two dedicated hard points to mount extra radar pods or sensor pods under the fuselage. Indecently the no growth aspect is one of the biggest issues with the F-16 today, you can’t introduce new tech in to the design, only redesign the old systems all on purpose.

On the intake there are two types for the F-16 though most people will never notice it, big mouth and small mouth. It has to do with what engine they are running.

Buy this if you want to know more, it is a must read. [link to www.amazon.com]

one of the very first presentations of the JSF (anyone mentioned Spartan cockpit?) yea the F-35 cockpit mockup
[link to i1189.photobucket.com]

 Quoting: IMAX

HUD for the F-35 is in the helmet, one of the most complicated issues with the plane itself. The magnetic field of the entire plane has to be configured every flight. It still does not work properly after a decade of development. They are going to give it one more try but if the new “fix” does not work the purposed replacement system will require an entire cockpit redesign. Third quarter of 2013 and we will know. So yes unique cockpit that might be done away with.

First fighter built with out a HUD in decades BTW.

Here is that helm.

F35HUDHELM
 Quoting: Chrit

that was not my point. the picture of the F-35 was a mockup of the aircraft, and it sure does look different than the one today. doesn't it?

besides, the picture of the F-16 with a relatively smaller air intake was to show people who are criticizing the F-313 to have a smaller air intake that their own plane models had a smaller air intake that could fly.

"These kinds of planes", retard, are made of fiberglass and plastic, and don't, won't, and can't ever fly, because they are a failed psyop mock-up that is so poorly executed that only retards like you fall for it.
 Quoting: Professor Xavier

PX is right,
There is no iranian 'Advanced Composite Technology', autoclaves, learning curve, etc. Painted chopped fiberglas(inside cockpit) fuselage might be OK for pleasure watercraft but a fighter jet?

This falls into the iranian 'fail' PR category of the fast attack recreation boats, including deck crews with penny loafers! :)

Yes, the F-35 mock-up is a mock-up of the F-35, a real aircraft.

Real aircraft.

Real.

Just to make myself clear here....the tone I had on this thread did not mean that I'm rooting for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
I was rooting for the Iranian engineers to build a jet like this. even though this is just a mock up, the real one exists.

The only thing that explains the amount of hate in this thread is jealousy.

Most of you were all too quick to call this a hoax simply by viewing a photo shoot meant for the press. Given that there are probably a few engineering and military secrets (on the design itself) it's quite easy to conlude that that mock-up isn't exactly as the original.

And LOL at all of the aviation experts who boasted that this is a hoax by examining a photo of a mock-up without realizing that to showcase mock-ups is standard procedure for prototypes and pre-production designs.

"
"The Times of Israel," however, quotes an Israeli aerospace engineer on condition of anonymity as saying that, while the plane on display was "clearly not" a working prototype...

…it integrated advanced stealth design with extreme maneuverability. He said that while the Qaher’s design lacked bombing capability, it had the potential to be an effective interceptor capable of defending Iran’s skies from aerial threats.

“They need a defensive interceptor that gives them the element of surprise, and it is big enough to carry real air-to-air missiles,” he said."

Please tell me that you don't buy this.

The airframe is obviously a feeble attempt to look cool.

First off, it is undersized. If this is supposed to represent an actual aircrft, it is obviously a scaled down version.

Second the canopy it a beacon for radar.

An aircraft with any suitable performance characteristics will require a powerplant that cannot be fed by the air intakes demonstrated.

The wing design indicates a sophisticated computer stability control system that is not likely to be found on the bench of any Iranian defense contractor.

The workmanship on the leading edges and transition zones is incredibly poor and would create enormous drag issues.

The cockpit is a sham. Insufficient avionics. Surplus seat that would not sufficiently support a pilot in a modern dogfight.

Exhaust port has no nozzle, (I'll give that it is a mockup and the nozzle would protrude from the end) however the flow surfaces will cause a concentrated exhaust plume that will be another beacon.

I could continue, but I am laughing too hard.

Personally ....I would take this aircraft on in a P-51.

No one at Iran claimed that is a real plane. The Iranians said they have tested two smaller sized models (one with propeller, the other with a micro jet engine).

This is of course a mock up of the real airplane.

Hard to believe it's stealth (radar evading) when you notice how much light it reflects.
 Quoting: Stealth#521

F22 is stealth ... But it could not use it's own Radar ... while using own Radar nullifies it's stealth property. Therefore, it is said that F22 will be guided with help of AWACS in the enemy territory.

Does a Stealth Fighter Jet really need BIG BVR capable Radar?

It seems the answer is NO.

For example, I don't think Qahar-313 is going to be detected by any other fighter Jet in the BVR Range (it could only be detected, if it open up it's Radar).

Modern Era warfare says that Stealth Fighter itself keeps it's radars off, and use either the AWACS Radars, or the ground based Radars, or the data from Drones if it is going to be used as Interceptor or even as Bomber[size=78%].[/size]

The ERA of "Jack of all Trades" has gone.

Single Radar of Single Fighter Jet is not going to work any more.

But Invading Fighter Jets need the help of Integrated Radar System of AWACS + Drones + accompanying fighter jets ....

Also the defending Interceptors need the help of ground Integrated Radar System + Drones + accompanying Interceptors.

Therefore, question arises, if Qahar-313 really needs a BIG BVR Capable Radar? (I don't think Stealth fighters are ever going to be used to make BVR kills directly, while then they have to use their own Radars for a long time).

Or the usage of integrated Radar System will be enough in this modern era warfare?

I hope no one misinterpreted what Brigadier General Shahrokh Shahram have said. I wanted to emphasize his declaration that the design phase is over and tests of the design has begun.the test phase ranges from flying a RC plane to flying a jet armed to the teeth. This is a time and resources consuming phase which could lead back to changes on the original design. It could span over a number of years.

I highly doubt that this project will end up like Shafaq.Unless Iran is able to buy 5th Gen fighters and the cost is less than developing Qahar-313.

BUT :D I am crossing my fingers that it is not in the early testing phase

Fake. It may be a mock-up but that is not a functioning aircraft. Look at the canopy. You can't even see through it. That's kinda important if you really want to fly the thing. Just sayin.
