Man it's like watching a very slow motion train wreck.

This is what will happen.

Someone will become a martyr. It won't be Cletus on his range, it'll be Wally in his apartment. Then the rage against the machine will explode in the cities as fantasy clashes with reality.

This means that people will be killed, for real, in front of people going about their daily lives and not on some isolated farm where no one really gives a fuck about them.

When this happens, the decades of social conditioning by Hollywood will take over and people will let rip, without thinking it through. Bullets on celluliod don't hurt ya. But you have seen it too many times, how cool it is to fire your handgun sideways, everyone sits watching, smug. Yeah that's really cool.

For fucks sake don't you get it? I did in the Falklands. Oh I got it, did I ever. It was fun, it was brilliant, everything was jus' dandy. Until the killing started.

It wasn't a rampage of braap braaap yap yap bang, five hundered round Brucie Willis celluliod mags. It was slow methodical fire and manouever, every shot counts, shoot to KILL. Cold, clinical, brutal.

And you want to know the worst of it? They fired back, real bullets that hurt like fuck, brought a tear to your eye - nomesayin'?

So, I think it will happen Hollywood style for a few televised U-tubed encounters in the cities before all the fantasy will be reduced to reality as you realise you are watching people you KNOW being taken out by uniformed well prepared law enforcement agents.

Then a revolution will(?) begin in earnest. At the end, the only outcome will be those middle aged men in the video looking after their people in a lawless society but a society firmly grounded in reality.

So don't be naive. How many of dem ol' farts would have gone to a meeting about say Flouridation? I bet only a few. But this 2nd Ammendment issue is like poking a sleeping Rhino. If he wakes up you'd better run.

I wholeheartedly agree, although my own field study and realization occurred much later than yours did in the Falklands, in a crappy desert in 2003. People do not understand what fear does to you, not anxiety fear, but real fear of death. I have a feeling this is about to return to that very real scenario, and the only difference will be what we are willing to kill and be killed for. God help us all.
