Bold claims require bold data to back up his assertions and he failed in that. The route to altering someone's spiritual journey is almost always through the heart, that is the soul of a person, not the brain. Very few people chose Christianity through intellectual means. A long time ago, much of homiletics was done by trying to create more and more persuasive arguments, but that doesn't work especially with Post-Moderns. It's a waste of energy and a using a very old pre-1950 paradigm. What does work is showing wonder at creation, for it is inescapably lovely and intricate and only the most cold folks can not sense a Supreme Being by walking through a forest or meadow. Looing into the vast firmament of the myriad stars is one such way, and the upcoming Comet ISON will be a chance to discuss the wonder of a cosmic snowball being hurled in an elyptical orbit past our Earth. Talk about Jesus. Who can argue with His words of such magnificent love, His altrusim, and honor. These things are compelling about our faith. More time about Jesus and less time about Evolution. Well, I guess you'll have to take that up with Jesus Himself since He placed it on my heart to post this here today.  Be careful there, Hon. Yes, I feel inspired by the love of Jesus. That's why I've made 1000 posts on prepping in order to be a servant to the GLP community. That doesn't mean that Jesus Himself put ideas in my head. That borders on pride and on a personal stamp of approval from our Lord and Savior. Don't be brash, for such ideas can make you think that whatever you say is direct communication from Jesus. That would make you a modern day prophet and certainly subject to scrutiny. I know you mean well, but I wouldn't make such claims. Hearing and obedience does not equal pride. It goes into a lot of phenomena, but this guy really gets into the mathematics of the universe and how impossibly perfect our World really is. These two books are out of print but you can probably find them on Amazon. I've had 3 copies of each book and lent them to people I'd read some sections from the books to them and they had wanted to read them. I am now on copies 4! I've always believed but the astronomical impossibility of such perfection statistically is mindblowing and faith confirming to the existence of God. Thanks, Lisa, as always! |
