also on the tithing thing, I thought the tithe was suppose to be 30% not 10. I swear I read that somewhere in the bible many years ago. I know there is a verse about ten , but there's also somewhere else a mention of a 1/3.

There are different takes on the same topics in the bible. For example - the Noahs ark animals. You always hear about it being 2 of each kind - 2 by 2. But that's not the case. Elsewhere in the bible it says that there were 7 of all clean animals and 2 unclean.

If you can't afford to tip, then keep your broke ass at the house....God has nothing to do with it.

I agree. It's why I rarely ever dine out. When I call in a pick up order I even give them something for the simple fact that I didn't dine in. But that tip usually comes out to around 10-12%.

The whole issue is ridiculous anyway as "tithing" is NOT a New Testament requirement. It is strictly OT law for the Jews under the law.

Christians under grace give not of necessity (the Jews did). ALL of the supposed verses used to enforce tithing are either OT applications or verses applied before the cross. As we (Christians only) are commanded to "rightly divide the word of truth" we know that the only way to arrive at tithing for the NT saint is to "WRONGLY divide the word of truth".

Giving under grace is is based on as "the Lord has prospered you, so give". It is never, ever based on 10%. It is also wise to note the Jews were not commanded to give MONEY, but rather food or grain.

If I was the waitress, I would have asked the pastor if God ever brought a meal to the table for her, refilled her drink, or brought her an extra napkin!

I go to several different restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I tip from 30% to 50%. My bill is 30% to 50% less than everyone elses at the table. The server is very attentive to my needs. The bar tender personally delivers any drink I order. The line cook/chef always comes to the table to explain the dish I've ordered and ask if I'd like to make any substitutions or changes.

I realise that the server, bar tender and cook can't do this for everyone; but, they do it for me. Bills the same; service is out of this world.

Tip well and often. Or be a prick - choice is yours.

For every success in the waitress business. theres many more that beg the Establishment for higher pay than 2.00 an hour.

In most restaurants waiters and waitresses are paid much less than minimum wage per hour. It is 'understood' that they will make the remainder of their pay in tips. If people cannot afford to help a waiter or waitress make a living wage, then they should consider buying food at establishments that don't use them, like McDonalds.

Personally, I tip 20-30%, not that I can afford it, but the majority of these people are working their asses off and to even think the BS they have to put up with from these exact people that started all this shit.... It's just BULLSHIT!

I'm confused. Isn't the tip already added to the Amount 39.43? It says Additional Tip at the bottom, she puts 0, and agrees to pay the total amount. Doesn't this mean the total already includes 18% and she doesn't want to tip anything extra?

Hey Apollyon, I agree with you..what these restaurant chains are doing is wrong.. They should pay their employees a fair wage and they are milking the customers and not treating the wait staff right either..meanwhile the top dogs are reaping the benefits.

However, it doesn't change the current situation the waiters and waitresses are in at the present time. They work really hard and tips are all they have to rely on to make ends meet..it shouldn't be that way, but we can't make them (the poor wait staff) pay for what the elites are doing to us all....which is just sticking it to us all and laughing all the way to their tropical vacation homes.

I think it depends on the establishment.

Some places all the waiters/waitresses throw all their tips in a "kitteh" and split with the busboys. Some don't.

Was that way in the last century anyway

No, the pastor crossed off the 'mandatory for large group' tip and just paid the bill instead. The additional tip section is if the customer wanted to add more than the $6.29 amount.

IMHO, the pastor should at least have given 10% of the bill, just as she gives 10% of her wages to her church. Of course we know the purpose of the tithing is to pay for housing and keeping a clergy and worship space for the congregation. If their clergy or any other were driving around in expensive cars, having expensive trips and wearing expensive clothing while the congregation members are looking poor, then I'd question that place of worship. (This was happening to my uncle-in-law and his wife. The clergy looked rich and drove a nice car, while my in-laws drove a beater that broke down often and they gave 28% of their retirement money to the church. Talk about being suckered!)

In Thailand 20 baht (65 cents) is a good tip. Waiting tables is a minimum wage job that should be done by kids.
