"Until recently, mankind lived a satisfying control of its decisions. But it is losing more and more the control of its own fate because of the growing use of advanced technologies, which lethal consequences on the earthly and human ecosystems become irreversible. You are slowly but surely losing your extraordinary capacity to make life desirable. Your resilience will artificially decrease, independently of your own will. Such technologies exist that affect your body as well as your mind. Such plans are on their way."

I eat what I want, when I want, how I want.

I was always extremely skinny my whole life.

The last 2 years i've been drinking 3 - 6 beers everday and i've blown up like a balloon.

Sure is IF you have no health problems
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33526079

Many health problems today are caused by poor eating habits, no exercise and bodies that are extremely acidic. Most people I know have caused their own health problems by using food as an emotional outlet and they never exercise. Then they run to the doctor complaining they don't feel good and ask for drugs to make them feel better. Then they get worse and go to more doctor visits and hospital visits. Then comes disability and on and on. I had a friend who did this and said he goes to the hospital whenever he wants now because it is all FREE. I told him it is not free because taxpayers like myself foot his bill.

I'm NOT suggesting that people DON'T take care of themselves; I personally see a doctor once a year for an annual physical, that's all. I was commenting on the simplistic nature of his comment, not suggesting that it wasn't true. It's NOT quite that simple now is it???

The simple answer is to take care of oneself. Then people won't have those problems of GP's prying into their lives. And if you do have to go then tell them you live a pristine life and leave it at that. ;0)

Re: Big brother to log your drinking habits and waist size as GPs are forced to hand over confidential records
This should make us all feel "warm" & "fuzzy"....Over/Under on when we can expect this to cross the pond???

"Big brother to log your drinking habits and waist size as GPs are forced to hand over confidential records"

[link to www.dailymail.co.uk]

"GPs are to be forced to hand over confidential records on all their patients’ drinking habits, waist sizes and illnesses.

The files will be stored in a giant information bank that privacy campaigners say represents the ‘biggest data grab in NHS history’.

They warned the move would end patient confidentiality and hand personal information to third parties.
--The data includes weight, cholesterol levels, body mass index, pulse rate, family health history, alcohol consumption and smoking status.

Diagnosis of everything from cancer to heart disease to mental illness would be covered. Family doctors will have to pass on dates of birth, postcodes and NHS numbers."

 Quoting: milehighmike

WAKE UP.

This has already crossed the pond.

With the passing of the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act (PRE OBAMA) about what at least 7 years ago?? (not sure on date) everything changed in this country regarding your records and healthcare.

In fact providers in this nation have until the end of 2014 to get to stage 2 and the deadline is by 2015 that they have to prove meaningful use. This means everyone in this nation has to be charting patient data electronically. If they fail to do this, they will be fined hugely by the government, as the government will refuse to reimburse medicare completely (down to 1%). Every provider in this nation is forced to have your health information electronic!

Also, to incentivize (is that a word? sue me) further, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (AKA the Stimulus Bill put out by OBAMA) providers can get back over 44,000 to 64,000 PER DOCTOR in extra incentive cash just by implementing their EMRs on target meeting targets and deadlines. (Can you imagine how much money that is for healthcare systems that have 1000's of doctors in them?)

This is a huge push right now happening in this nation. Everything is electronic.

Let me tell you everything is tracked. EVERYTHING.

Data files are loaded and shared to the government daily among other bigger fish like the WHO. Do you know the WHO is? They are like the 'illuminati' of health care worldwide.

I'm NOT arguing with you, merely pointing out there are MANY things that can negatively influence your health that you CAN'T control, such as environmental, heredity, accidents, etc.

"Officials insisted data will be anonymous and deleted after analysis"

It's just a study to make sure our National Health Service is being operated as efficiently as possible (in times of austerity) and to make sure it is not being abused (e.g. by unnecessarily over-prescribing drugs) and to make sure the necessary infrastructure is in place to meet future medical requirements.

I agree with you but most of our problems are do to things we have control over. And if people took care of those things the load on the medical system would be extremely lighter making room for those who do have huge problems.
