a little black cat

sat on a stoop

watching a flower and a bee



how she stared at that insect

as if it twas

the last she'd ever see



then she turned my way

and the message she sent

was as plain as it could be



a frost came that night

and took my cat

all the flowers- and likely the bee



when cats doze in summer sunshine

there are flowers

and maybe a bee



promise dear friend

dear human,

promise you'll think of me
