Anonymous Coward User ID: 33259289 United Kingdom 02/07/2013 10:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think this is basically just a tax to claw back some of the money from people they couldn't house in smaller accommodation; because it either wasn't available to house them at the time, or they lived under different circumstances at the time of the initial rent agreement. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358 CHAV TAX So, are we going to be paying their moving expenses every few years as family size changes? I get the feeling this makes no sense at all. It's probably just intended to keep communities transitory. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 33792358 United Kingdom 02/07/2013 10:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thats the impression i get, basically if a chav couple got a 4 bedroomed house because they had 6 kids 20 years ago they will be liable to pay for the extra space they now have since all their own kids left because they all got pregnant at 16 and got their own council houses! I think the idea is cutting the benefits of people who live in council housing far beyond what they need. Why would a chav family need a 4 bedroom house if they only have 1 or 2 kids left at home. Sounds like a means tested welfare cut. The only way to avoid it is move to a smaller council house. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33794302 the tardism is strong with the islanders. It's not as drastic as OP is making out. Basically people in social housing, with more bedrooms than they use will be asked to pay up or relocate. They will be allowed to sublet the spare room to cover the tax if they choose to. I agree with OP's sentiment but this is not the spark we need. Socialism at its finest. I see what you did there. You saw the word social and turned it into socialism. You don't even know what socialism is you stupid bastard. |

Yes those people exist but there will be thousands of families around the country that will face having to move out of the house which their children have grew up in due to them not being able to afford this 'tax'. How is that fair? Interesting point about removing the bed... Surely slimy osbourne will have a work around for that. I wonder where the real spark will come from? |

People move in and out of neighborhoods every year as their income and situation changes. Personally I prefer to have the same neighbors and community from year to year, even if some of them are not meeting stringent regulations at the moment. |

There is a case of a family who have left their daughters bedroom exactly as it was after she passed due to cancer i believe, i think it has been that way for a few years. Old woman up the road from me, lives in a 3 bedroom house, social housing, yet we have families in temp accomodation sharing 2 rooms, how is that fair ? Last Edited by F F S on 02/07/2013 10:55 AM |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 33792358 United Kingdom 02/07/2013 10:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not sure what section 8 is... Basically the local government owns the houses and rents them out. Depending on the location they can be rented out to people who pay their own way by working etc, but they are often rented to people who dont pay anything because welfare pays for it. |

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me. |

You cant argue with these retards and the problem is these idealists make up a large majority of the country. I don't know what the fuck they think is going to happen when the money all stops because all these socialists are living well beyond their means. The retards will probably riot and burn down their own fucking communities demanding the government do something. |

Now that really would cause a riot. To be honest though, any measure that makes it harder for the scroungers is a good measure in my book. its the first step to exactly that. The day they try to tax me for the extra bedrooms in the house that I have bought with my own money......... I won't be happy |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29439784 Shits going to be fucking hilarious when Romanian criminals become lodgers and peoples houses get raided by the police for drugs and the landlord gets in just as much shit. Why do you think that, i'm paying for my house not the state. Years ago i was renting private in a shared house, as i was studying and had paid tax etc, the government gave me and a friend housing benefit, they only paid for the 2 rooms we shared, we were living in a 3 bedroom house, we had to find the extra to make up the rent. it's not as bad as its being made out as its been done for years, its only those who've generally never paid up in arms |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 33854599 Thailand 02/07/2013 11:06 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | If you take money from the government they are allowed to set the conditions. The solution isn't riots, it's individual responsibility. For too long the left wing was in charge, and they did what leftists always do, the same things they are doing in the US now. They encumbered businesses with idiotic regulations, and scorn and punish success. Now businesses have abandoned your shores in droves, high-value earners have chased their jobs to Singapore and Hong Kong, and vast swathes of your people are soft and dependent, with an expectation of a government-guaranteed lifestyle that far outstrips the value they generate to society and, therefore, the taxes they pay. Unfortunately, your government is now bankrupt. There's no more money for them to use to buy the bread and circuses they entertained you with while they were destroying your economy. So now, much too late, the reality of the result of more than a decade of Labour Government rule is setting in. It's not pleasant to watch as more and more Brits (and Euros in general) awaken from the specious dream of socialism to the cold light of morning in the real world. However, awaken you must, and there's nobody you can attack or riot in front of who can help you reclaim the dream, since it was never real in the first place. You will only succeed in damaging your own neighborhoods, and divert government money away from your problems and into law enforcement and damage control. If anything good could possibly come of this, it is that the next generation of Brits will come to more closely resemble the gritty heroes of the WWII generation. It's unbelievable that the same nation that stared down the Nazis with iron will, indomitable spirit, and almost superhuman sacrifice, sired a generation of weak-willed pussies who make no connection between contribution to society and their own lives and livelihood. Hopefully, Americans begin to see our future in your present, and work to rid ourselves of the yoke of dependency on government that too many have been voting for and demanding of late. That would be cold comfort to you, but a great boon to us. I can only hope it isn't too late for us to avoid the same fate. But, I'm not sure. "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have." - Gerald Ford |
