Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
Do you have any idea how much we paid to educate that little worthless thing so that he could come and whine about people that are in the same lower income bracket that he was as a child? He's a hypocrite. At least my tuition was paid out of pocket and not by taxes. If anything I have more right to complain about scroungers like him than he does.

For Christ sake, he's complaining about himself.
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

Well his anger might be misdirected. But as other people in this thread have said. most people don't have issue with the welfare state existing to help people... a stepping stone to give them a helping hand.

What myself and other people in this thread are sick of is benefit hordes scrounging for their entire lives off of the welfare state and contributing nothing back.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

I will explain the game once.

The only people that complain about the poor are the poor and working poor.
They whine that the other guy got more benefits, that the other guy stayed on benefits longer, that they are miserable "working their fingers to the bone" so they want company in their misery...so of course it should be the other miserable sod. They claim they are the only success story, or the only one worthy and that everyone else is a loser.

The wealthy don't have to do a thing other than run an article in a paper suggesting that poor people are worthless and deserving of less, and then poor run with it and eat each other alive and the cuts are made.

It's the way the game is run.
I cannot change it.
The poor will always hate the poor.
And yes, if you are hurt by the amount of taxes you are paying, then you are not financially comfortable and you are in fact working poor.

Sadly, I'm not making this up.
On an emotional level it makes me want to slam my head into a wall watching you people self harm into oblivion.
On an academic and professional level I applaud the effective psychology and strategy that gets you to play right into the trap.

You didn't really think your taxes would go down because the poor got less, did you?
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

You talk a lot of shit carpets...the higher up the class ladder you are the bigger the fucking sponger you are...only difference is you don't get it paid with a gyro that you had too sign up once a fortnight for...I am sick a tired of paying for arseholes like you...without the working man you are nothing...I dont suppose you are even capable of a days fucking work let alone support your fucking self......
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33407775

Yes dear, you are letting the upper class sponge off of you and they are using your hate to control you and get you to do so, a hate which you are blinded by. Did you even read or did your rage just go off?

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
My parents were both working class and worked every hour available so we wouldn't go short.
I did well in school and was awarded a scholarship in the local grammar school. Got my exams, went to uni and got myself a very good job.
Although I've lived all over the world I came back to near where I was born because of family reasons and luckily found a very nice Victorian house to live in (got it a a good price too, before the hike 10 years ago).

Anyway, the house next to mine is owned by a housing cooperative which is a sub-contractor to the local council.
Living there are a mum (in her 50's), 3 sons all in their 20's and a daughter in her 20's.
None of these have ever worked.
They have satellite tv (in more than one room), lcd tv's in several rooms, hifi's, mobile phones etc etc.
They get pissed most nights and two of them smoke.

It fucking sickens me that my parents and I (and my wife) have worked extremely hard to get what we have and these useless twats next door get given everything on a plate.

Anything which reduces benefits for lazy fuckwits like these is good in my book.

You are defending a failed state. Get the fuck out while you still can. The UK is an unmitigated fucking disaster.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33730709

If the great collapse is coming nowhere will be safe in the west.

If anything north america may well be more dangerous as every city will probably turn into sarajevo.

The US has a high density of firearms, and those guns will flood canada too.

You may even get militias and crap fleeing the US and crossing the border into canada.

If the US government cant stop the rioting and disorder you think the border will hold up? not a chance.

Imagine every major US city 10x worse than katrina with it being unsafe in the day from sniper fire.

This is of course ignoring the potential for another world war.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

But you forget our advantage. We have vast open spaces where you can hunker down undetected.

And Canada, per Capita, has as many guns.

It's not as drastic as OP is making out. Basically people in social housing, with more bedrooms than they use will be asked to pay up or relocate. They will be allowed to sublet the spare room to cover the tax if they choose to.

There is a good argument for that.

People used to live with extended family until they could afford a place.

Just like the poster "lump under the carpet". You can't make sense to them. Read her postings and you will see she thinks that the taxpayer is obligated to give non-working people a stable life with no say in it. This is what normal, honest, sane people are up against. And what the government is having to deal with.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550123

I know, and I actually sympathize with the government in some regards as they have let this shit go on for 30 years pandering for votes. It is probably an unsolvable problem without hurting somebody.

Now they are all so scared of losing what power they have by forcing the change, so they simply wont do it, instead they just print print print until the economy collapses.

What the people rioting in the streets will fail to grasp and understand is those that enabled and encouraged it all will have fled before it all came crashing down. They will all burn down their own communities and destroy everything demanding the government bring it all back.

The people who will come to power on the back of this will be the sociopaths like hitler and stalin... and these idiots will vote them in thinking it will all go back to how it was with free handouts for everybody.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

If they don't do something soon it will hurt the middle class as more and more is being taken from them to support those who won't work. And then soon the middle class will have nothing. Who will support them? That is when it all falls apart. It is about to fall apart. So the poor better get ready to have less of what they are use to because the middle class are going to need handouts as well because they can't support lazy people anymore.

I'll take that as a no.
You've been too programmed to hate everyone not in your tax bracket, both below and above.
How does that choke chain feel?
Does it make you proud?

You hate the poor,
You hate yourself.
You hate the rich.

And you wonder why you are so easy to steal from when you willingly give it all up in your rage.

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
It's a shame for some of the people this will affect. My friend's mum has lived in her council house since the 1960s. She moved into the house when she got married and her kids were born in the house. I's the only home she's ever known. She's in her late 60s, her husband died a couple of years ago and the children left home a long time ago. When she signed her tenancy agreement she thought she'd be renting the house until she died.

There are people that abuse the system but not everyone does. To some people these are the only homes they've ever known and then this new policy becomes unfair. When the Tories began selling off council housing they should have re-invested the money in more social housing. Not everyone can buy and not everyone wants to. Fair rent for decent housing shouldn't be a luxury.

I'm so sorry that you have been created this way.
I am sorry for my part in it.
I was within the castle walls, protected, and did not realise what it meant for the people that itwas being done to.
I do now and all I can do is cry for you because you are limited in intellect and mad from rage, and I am partially responsible.
I did not know what the result would be.
I am truly and honestly sorry.

So basically people who are already getting cheap houses off the government and have spare rooms because thye are too selfish to move. Those denying people who need the houses and make them live in B and Bs, will pay for there selfishness

About time.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33592270

Yup. It is not like they are denying them a roof over their head. People can get so damn selfish when given stuff for free. Governments just need to come back with soup kitchens, shelters and orphanages for people who won't support their kids or who had them just to get welfare. Then we would see action. People rooming with each other. Families supporting one another. Gardens would be started. And people would start figuring out jobs they can do to get needed money. If there is no incentive most people sit on their lazy asses.

I think they are trying to but it has gotten out of control. Plus, families move in and then when kids move out you now have one or two people occupying a space that is too large. Looks like government lost track and now they are trying to scramble to get things straightened out.

Here's one for you, you wanted to be a teacher, stop whining. If you dont like it go and get a job in the real world same as the rest of us. If i dont like a job i get a new one, if a job doesnt pay enough i get a new one. Yup. Like I said, if they are hungry then go to soup kitchens. Homeless? Then go to friends, family, shelters or even churches. The handouts need to stop.

Exactly, they make scamming the system their full time work.

I know what you are saying and agree. Unfortunately, you can't make sense to morons or those with entitlement issues.

Are you another one that thinks state funded schools are not an entitlement?

If the state pays for it, and you take it (for over a decade of education too! That is a lot of money to educate your children for you.), it's an entitlement.

You can't pick and choose which ones you take and then call the people that take other ones scroungers unless you are a huge hypocrite.

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
It's not as drastic as OP is making out. Basically people in social housing, with more bedrooms than they use will be asked to pay up or relocate. They will be allowed to sublet the spare room to cover the tax if they choose to.

There is a good argument for that.

People used to live with extended family until they could afford a place.

And we need to go back to that pronto.

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
Are you having a laugh, we, my parents and grand parents paid tax as well as do I, and as I said I'm fucking sick and tired of paying so fucking much of my earned money to spongers. Teachers are a fucking joke, try and take my kid on holiday and they threaten you with a fine, but Ho, it's alright for them to go on strike and expect me to find someone to have them or take a day off and lose money.

Here's one for you, you wanted to be a teacher, stop whining. If you dont like it go and get a job in the real world same as the rest of us. If i dont like a job i get a new one, if a job doesnt pay enough i get a new one. Labour spent all the money and then some, bet that joke from Liam Byrne isn't so fucking funny now is it. so much in fact my kids will still be paying it , and they're in primary school.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32878929

So you even hate the teachers that worked to give you your free tax funded education? Wow, you really are ungrateful.

What's next?

Government should not be in the business of education because they are nothing more than indoctrination centers.
