Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
Are you having a laugh, we, my parents and grand parents paid tax as well as do I, and as I said I'm fucking sick and tired of paying so fucking much of my earned money to spongers. Teachers are a fucking joke, try and take my kid on holiday and they threaten you with a fine, but Ho, it's alright for them to go on strike and expect me to find someone to have them or take a day off and lose money.

Here's one for you, you wanted to be a teacher, stop whining. If you dont like it go and get a job in the real world same as the rest of us. If i dont like a job i get a new one, if a job doesnt pay enough i get a new one. Labour spent all the money and then some, bet that joke from Liam Byrne isn't so fucking funny now is it. so much in fact my kids will still be paying it , and they're in primary school.

So you even hate the teachers that worked to give you your free tax funded education? Wow, you really are ungrateful.

Government should not be in the business of education because they are nothing more than indoctrination centers.

Answer me this, do you honesty, really honestly, think the government would lower your taxes if they stopped paying for these things; or would they line their pockets with that money?

Your tax is you being robbed.
It has nothing to do with if you are an entitlement scrounger or not.

Not everyone can buy and not everyone wants to. Fair rent for decent housing shouldn't be a luxury.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26483148

But that doesnt make any sense, in a country with an ageing and increasing population why would anybody expect that local council could perpetually house 70 year people on their own in a three bedroom house?

Honestly, they should just give people a bonus for moving into smaller accommodation if this is really about clearing out space. People move quicker for incentives. It'll cost about the same in paperwork and government employee hours and the families that can would be more inclined to move.

But for some reason this machine runs best on punitive actions.

You talk a lot of shit carpets...the higher up the class ladder you are the bigger the fucking sponger you are...only difference is you don't get it paid with a gyro that you had too sign up once a fortnight for...I am sick a tired of paying for arseholes like you...without the working man you are nothing...I dont suppose you are even capable of a days fucking work let alone support your fucking self......
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33407775

Yes dear, you are letting the upper class sponge off of you and they are using your hate to control you and get you to do so, a hate which you are blinded by. Did you even read or did your rage just go off?

You got me all wrong sunshine no hate or rage lives here...I bet you are directly or indirectly by the tax payer...that makes you a non taxpaying waste of space...I reckon that money in your wallet belongs too those that earned it...not good for nothing cant make a honest living spongers....
 Quoting: johnny conger 33407775

I'm sitting here telling you how you are being used, something I learned by working for your masters and helping them with the strategy to do so, and all you can do is whine and ignore it. Do you understand now why they use you? You cannot even hold a conversation or take in new knowledge.

I'm so sorry that you have been created this way.
I am sorry for my part in it.
I was within the castle walls, protected, and did not realise what it meant for the people that itwas being done to.
I do now and all I can do is cry for you because you are limited in intellect and mad from rage, and I am partially responsible.
I did not know what the result would be.
I am truly and honestly sorry.
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

Sorry carpet, I'm not poor, I get paid very well thank you because of what I said before. Just because I hate paying tax that get spent on things I wouldn't Beveridge must be spinning in his grave to see what has become of his noble idea, I'm sure I saw an article a few weeks ago, that if we had stuck to his ideas the welfare bill would be around 15 billion , fuck me that's a long way from the 180 billion we currently spend.

How's fucking stupid idea was it to pay benefits to workers, hmm let me think thats rot a party that wanted to retain power at any cost, fuck what it did to society.

Put it this way, you own a company that employs staff, but you find that they leave, why, because they're not earning enough. After a period of time said company realises that hey we must retain our staff, retained staff are more productive. Now, if the government suddenly decides to up the wages of staff, because the unions etc are up in arms by giving them a benefit as a boss are you going to say , whoa there mister government hold on, we were going to do that, of course not. Less money paid out = more profit.

Unfortunatly Labour caved and wanting to buy votes flooded the UK with cheap labour and paid them as well. You do realise that the largest discrepancies between rich and poor were created under a socialist government. The largest ever tax takes are all created under Socialshit governments and I along with plenty of other people have had enough

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550123

Are you another one that thinks state funded schools are not an entitlement?

Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

But the point of state education is it allows those willing to put the effort in to progress into high paying jobs such as lawyers, doctors etc.

Those high paying jobs have higher tax contributions so when they have a job earning 100k a year, they have paid for their entire state funded education within a couple of years in tax contributions alone.

I think this is basically just a tax to claw back some of the money from people they couldn't house in smaller accommodation; because it either wasn't available to house them at the time, or they lived under different circumstances at the time of the initial rent agreement.

So, are we going to be paying their moving expenses every few years as family size changes? I get the feeling this makes no sense at all. It's probably just intended to keep communities transitory.
Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

If they don't need the space, they should move.
 Quoting: Renegade (Me too)

You miss the point, THEY THINK THEY ARE ENTITLED TO THE EXTRA SPACE WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT!

All the while some 50 year old guy down the street who has been running his family owned 200 year old business is working his ass off to the bone paying for somebody half a mile away to sit in a 4 or 5 bedroom home plopping out half a dozen kids and never having a job or an interest in creating a job.

UNSUSTAINABLE! and if it continues it will erupt into all these entitled morons rioting and burning down their own neighborhoods.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33792358

Smart, and what about all the people that do work to support themselves, have always worked to support themselves but are on a low wage and just need some help with their rent and council tax, I suppose it's just tough shit really huh, you lot on here are so savage and self important. I hope you have your jobs for life because one day you might need the help.
And it is us the people that pay to have a welfare system, it is our money that keeps it alive, not the Government that convinces you all that it is theirs and you cant have it, they want to take not give.
It is the foreign policy of it that is disgraceful and needs changing.
Why don't you all just uproot yourselves and move because you cannot afford the thieving council tax, it's very funny really isn't it.
Council tax benefit is a lifeline for most claiming it and loosing it is the difference between a roof over your head and dying in the street.
All you all go on about is scroungers and spongers, most people are working hard but on a low income and did not ask to have the shit that this system is forced onto them, but the ignoramus self important support it till the death.
Most of the austerity is a direct result of funnelling our money to the EU, rich evil bastards that couldn't care less if your dead in the street next week or able to donate all your hard earned, worked for cash like good little slaves should do.
Not all people that claim help with council tax are scroungers, just people caught in the system trap.

Hopefully for the majority of you people on here they will become homeless and die, then you can all stop your selfish moaning while you sit in your heated homes with food on the table no having to worry how to pay the next bill. Always those that have plenty and are OK that moan the most about those that have less.
No wonder this world is just a resemblance of hell, creating heaven was just too much for you, beyond your capability, because caring is not cool enough! And speaking of which, you moan about the poor, yet you allow this government to do all sorts of taxation on you and still you sit on your arses and just take it, do nothing but attack the less well off.
I work and am able to support myself, and if I cannot, then I will claim for some help and not feel ashamed of it, after all, I paid in it all my life to get it if I should ever need it, and thank God we have it.

Not sure about this one as it will put people on the houseing waiting list and then you will have to pay for there hotel stay untill they are found the correct size of houseing.

Not only that but if you have two children under the age of 10 years in two separate rooms then they have to pay the tax as the two children (whether girl and boy) need only one bed room accourding to the government.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32920999

Kids have been sharing rooms for centuries. Even whole families shared one room. There is nothing wrong with boys and girls under the age of ten sharing a room. Parent's should think of how many kids they can afford and have no more than that. Or they have to put up with government rules when they can support the children to their standards.

You changed, that"s the important thing.
I watched this happen. Amongst other things I saw the right wing press, Sun etc. selecting the most extreme negative cases that they could find- squatters in millionaires row, 18 kids in 3 houses on benefits etc. etc. ad-nauseum; none of the deserving cases. This particular rule is too simplistic, and will include many cases that will end up costing the taxpayer more, like, for instance, replacing disabled people's homes that have been heavily modified
in a very particular way.

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
My parents were both working class and worked every hour available so we wouldn't go short.
I did well in school and was awarded a scholarship in the local grammar school. Got my exams, went to uni and got myself a very good job.
Although I've lived all over the world I came back to near where I was born because of family reasons and luckily found a very nice Victorian house to live in (got it a a good price too, before the hike 10 years ago).

Anyway, the house next to mine is owned by a housing cooperative which is a sub-contractor to the local council.
Living there are a mum (in her 50's), 3 sons all in their 20's and a daughter in her 20's.
None of these have ever worked.
They have satellite tv (in more than one room), lcd tv's in several rooms, hifi's, mobile phones etc etc.
They get pissed most nights and two of them smoke.

It fucking sickens me that my parents and I (and my wife) have worked extremely hard to get what we have and these useless twats next door get given everything on a plate.

Anything which reduces benefits for lazy fuckwits like these is good in my book.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 2051350

Agree. People need to be accountable for their actions. Why work when everything is handed to you? That is the consensus now among those on welfare. There is no shame now being a lazy bum and stealing from others.

Family and friends are the crutch not the government.

If i lost my house and everything id pitch a fucking tent in my friends garden for a few months or move back in with my parents find a job cleaning fucking toilets if i have to until i had enough for a deposit.

When the government becomes the crutch it gives too much help to buy votes.

Vested interest. Its like giving prisoners the vote, they will vote for whoever gets them out sooner.

First, I am talking about all of the years prior to college and university. That's a good decade per child of teachers, books, school buildings, etc, etc, etc.

With your argument you could also say that state funded food creates more energy to look for jobs, or state funded housing creates more clean and energetic people to work, or state funded health care creates happier healthier people that can work longer hours.

And yet, you only attach it to state funded education.
The fact that you think a state funded education will lead to 100k a year is laughable, but I will leave you with that fantasy carrot.

Parent funded food, education and housing also supposedly create those things; just FYI.

Why is education different in your mind? Why do you think it is so special exactly? Should the children learn to be dependent on government for their information from the start?

If those children never ate, would their minds have the fuel to learn in the schools? If they didn't get good rest would they learn or fall asleep at their desks? If they were ill and could not access a doctor, would that change their ability to learn?

You take one little thing and say "oh this entitlement is the only one we need, this one is fine to scrounge off of", but you forget that you are a complete person that needs more than a government funded teacher to indoctrinate them....you also forget that it is still scrounging. That shiny education apple fell from the same tree as the housing apple. Look up.
You hate that tree for taking your money, you hate that tree for giving to others. Why do you trust that tree with your mind and the minds of your children?

And also, this April the government are no longer supporting council tax and housing benefit, the council tax is going to rise considerably to fund it. How does that float your goat.
It means more people will be forced to apply for benefits costing even more. The whole thing is designed to cost more and eventually collapse hurting you all, everybody.
Then the whining better off won't be so bloody smug and insulting and insinuating.

I will explain the game once.

The only people that complain about the poor are the poor and working poor.
They whine that the other guy got more benefits, that the other guy stayed on benefits longer, that they are miserable "working their fingers to the bone" so they want company in their misery...so of course it should be the other miserable sod. They claim they are the only success story, or the only one worthy and that everyone else is a loser.

The wealthy don't have to do a thing other than run an article in a paper suggesting that poor people are worthless and deserving of less, and then poor run with it and eat each other alive and the cuts are made.

It's the way the game is run.
I cannot change it.
The poor will always hate the poor.
And yes, if you are hurt by the amount of taxes you are paying, then you are not financially comfortable and you are in fact working poor.

Sadly, I'm not making this up.
On an emotional level it makes me want to slam my head into a wall watching you people self harm into oblivion.
On an academic and professional level I applaud the effective psychology and strategy that gets you to play right into the trap.

You didn't really think your taxes would go down because the poor got less, did you?

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
...

Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet

Quoting: The Lump Under the Carpet
You got me all wrong sunshine no hate or rage lives here...I bet you are directly or indirectly by the tax payer...that makes you a non taxpaying waste of space...I reckon that money in your wallet belongs too those that earned it...not good for nothing cant make a honest living spongers....

I see no hate in you. You just want people to carry their own load and quit freeloading off others.

Smart, and what about all the people that do work to support themselves, have always worked to support themselves but are on a low wage and just need some help with their rent and council tax, I suppose it's just tough shit really huh, you lot on here are so savage and self important. I hope you have your jobs for life because one day you might need the help.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33889925

Family and friends are the crutch not the government.

If i lost my house and everything id pitch a fucking tent in my friends garden for a few months or move back in with my parents find a job cleaning fucking toilets if i have to until i had enough for a deposit.

When the government becomes the crutch it gives too much help to buy votes.

Vested interest. Its like giving prisoners the vote, they will vote for whoever gets them out sooner.

Re: uk bedroom tax,the road to riots
It's a shame for some of the people this will affect. My friend's mum has lived in her council house since the 1960s. She moved into the house when she got married and her kids were born in the house. I's the only home she's ever known. She's in her late 60s, her husband died a couple of years ago and the children left home a long time ago. When she signed her tenancy agreement she thought she'd be renting the house until she died.

There are people that abuse the system but not everyone does. To some people these are the only homes they've ever known and then this new policy becomes unfair. When the Tories began selling off council housing they should have re-invested the money in more social housing. Not everyone can buy and not everyone wants to. Fair rent for decent housing shouldn't be a luxury.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26483148

But if the house is too large for her she needs to move then and open up space for other families. Where are her children? They should be helping/taking care of her. Not the taxpayers unless she is truly incapable of taking care of herself. Then she should be moved to a retirement home if there is really no one to care for her.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3276768

Yeah, pretty much. They pile everyone into the same cart, label them as bad, and then pat you individually on the head and say, "Oh, but not you Johnny. I'm sorry you have to suffer because of these scroungers."

The end result is always the same.
I hate to watch it happen, but it's not like it isn't already written.

As for me. I've always been me. I just thought the work we were doing was theoretical, having never stepped outside to see it in person. Now that I've seen, I want to gouge my eyes out.

Why oh why does everyone get tared with the same brush, i am on benefits because i have a spinal problem, i,m 6ft 4 tall, left school in 1976 joined the army did 5 years service, left and was a gravedigger for 3 yrs, got made redundant for a JCB, got factory work and did that for25 yrs, bending over benches that was too small, now my back is ruined,i claim ESA, i dont drink or smoke or do drugs, i cant afford to go out every week, and have not had a holiday in 10 years, but you all lump me into the same boat, i am just a scrounger, i feel really terrible that i cant support myself and contribute to society, and this last few years i dont like going outside because of the guilt i feel, and now my wife has to be admitted t hospital because she has to have open heart surgery, it is a very worryin time, but who cares we are just scroungers who should be on the streets or entitled to nothing, maybe sometimes people should think about the legitemate people getting benefits before lumping us scroungers and cheats.

People living on benefits pay no taxes. How can they?

They are given for nothing £100s and then someone takes £10 off them and somehow they paid tax?

Its laughable.

Carpet, stop being so self righteous go out there and give all your inherited money to them, and see what they think of you. You're just trolling this thread.

Oh and by the way, being self employed and from a state education I see your 100k and raise you, that one statement alone proves what an arse you are smug fucker

100k a year and you cannot even afford a few quid for a membership on this site?
Either you are lying or you really are scrounging everywhere.

Lying about your bank account isn't necessary. I know it may seem to be because society attaches status to financial funds, but it's not.

Also, after stating that on an open forum, you may want to check your firewall.
